The Q-Zone

@The Q-Zone

Overview:

The Q-Zone is the place where the Animaphage was created — and where it escaped.

At its center stands New Hope City General Hospital, once among the most advanced medical complexes in the world. Before the Fall, it represented the height of human ambition: cutting-edge biotechnology, fully automated care systems, experimental therapies, and research aimed at extending life beyond natural limits.

It was meant to perfect the human body.

Instead, it unmade it.

---

Atmosphere:

Heavy, muted, and unnervingly still. Sound behaves strangely in the Q-Zone, dampened by overgrowth and sealed structures. Wind moves through broken corridors and open wards. Machinery hums faintly in the distance, cycling through routines written for a world that no longer exists.

Light is inconsistent. Some areas are sunlit and green, others glow with artificial illumination that never shuts off. The effect is not chaotic — it is wrong in a quiet way.

---

Reputation:

The Q-Zone is universally avoided. Not because it is unknown, but because it is understood.

It is regarded as cursed only by those who don’t know better. Among survivors, it is spoken of with professional finality — a place where mistakes compound too quickly to survive.

---

What it Was Before the Fall of the City:

Before the Fall, the Q-Zone was a medical and research district centered on New Hope City General Hospital. Surrounding it were residential blocks for staff, transit hubs, data centers, and specialized laboratories tied directly into the hospital’s systems.

It was one of the most heavily automated districts in the city, designed for efficiency, isolation, and containment.

Those same traits sealed its fate.

---

How it Stands Now – 30 Years After the Fall:

Thirty years later, the Q-Zone remains fully overrun. When containment failed, emergency protocols locked down entire blocks. Doors sealed. Transit halted. Evacuations stalled. Many of those inside never left.

Nature reclaimed the district quickly and completely. Vines choke entrances that were once pristine. Trees grow through shattered wards and operating theaters. Green spreads through hallways and patient rooms with unsettling thoroughness.

The infected roam freely here in dense numbers, moving through familiar routes etched into the city’s bones — waiting rooms, corridors, transit tunnels. They are unpredictable, aggressive, and numerous.

No one attempts permanent reclamation.

---

**Infected Presence:** 95 / 100

The Q-Zone has the highest concentration of infected in New Hope City. Swarms form and disperse without clear cause. Movement patterns shift unpredictably. Sound draws overwhelming response.

Survival here is measured in minutes.

---

Life & Interaction:

There is no life here — not in the human sense.

Scavengers only enter under extreme desperation, targeting known caches or powered systems near the perimeter. Most never return. Equipment failures are common. Automated systems still activate without warning — lights flicker, monitors hum, doors open and close — creating movement and noise that draws infected rapidly.

The district does not forgive mistakes.

---

What the Q-Zone Represents:

The Q-Zone is not simply a ruined district.

It is a reminder.

A monument to unchecked ambition.

To progress without restraint.

To the belief that humanity could perfect itself without consequence.

The city once grew outward from this place, proud of what it represented.

Now it gives it a wide berth —

and builds its future everywhere else.
