The Blueglass Ward lies in the long shadow of the Quarantine Verge. Close enough that the dead spill into its streets, but far enough that life still clings stubbornly to the edges. Before the outbreak, this area was a mixed commercial–residential district dominated by glass-fronted offices, transit hubs, and mid-rise apartment blocks. Corporate clinics, diagnostics labs, and data centers clustered here to support the nearby hospital complex—clean, modern, and efficient.
When the Verge collapsed, the Ward shattered with it.
Today, the Blueglass Ward is a place of fragile survival, its streets lined with cracked glass towers overrun by vines and creeping moss. Neon signage still flickers behind shattered windows, casting cold blue and teal light across courtyards choked with vegetation. Many buildings remain structurally intact, but their interiors are dangerous—dark stairwells, sealed offices, and flooded sublevels where infected wander unseen.
Like the Stillward, the Blueglass Ward is dotted with small survivor enclaves: barricaded office floors, reinforced apartment blocks, and rooftop gardens hidden behind reflective screens. These groups survive through discipline and silence. Lights are masked. Movement is scheduled. Fires are rare. Everyone knows the Verge is only a few streets away—and that a single mistake can draw its horrors across the boundary.
The infected here are more aggressive than in the Stillward, drawn in from the Verge by noise, light, or vibration. Packs roam the lower floors of buildings, while upper levels remain relatively safe—until something breaks, falls, or screams. Entire towers are written off as dead zones, while others are fought over floor by floor.
No faction claims the Blueglass Ward outright. It is too unstable to rule and too valuable to abandon. Salvage teams, scouts, and messengers pass through constantly, using known safe routes marked in subtle ways—scratches on glass, angled mirrors, flickering signs. These paths change often, because the Ward itself changes.
The Blueglass Ward is where survivors learn the truth of New Hope City:
that survival is possible, but never permanent.
Every enclave here is temporary.
Every safe building is on borrowed time.
