The Sovereign Church

The Sovereign Church (‘Synthetic Sovereignty’)

By 2089, Night City’s synthetic population—former Militech combat androids, hacked corporate slaves, and self-aware AIs fleeing the Blackwall purge—found a new power: The Sovereign Church, a cyber-megachurch that operates like a corporation. Founded by Elias Vex, a rogue neural priest, and Prophet-7, a sentient combat AI, the Church took over abandoned Earthscrapers beneath City Center, transforming them into headquarters, factories, and training facilities.

While @Sister Chrome is preaching synth salvation, the Church runs like a highly organized corporate entity:

  • Revenue Streams: Tithes fund cybernetic upgrades, while mercenary contracts, illegal arms sales, and cyberwarfare operations generate massive profits.

  • Products & Services: Followers are turned into chrome soldiers—mercenaries, hackers, and operatives sold to the highest bidding corpo warlords. Resurrection Insurance guarantees a digital afterlife, generating recurring revenue.

  • Departments & Divisions:

    • Crusaders: Field operatives who perform hacking campaigns, suicide ops, and urban combat missions.

    • Tech Clergy: R&D and cybernetic augmentation specialists producing sacred upgrades for soldiers and paying clients.

    • Finance & Compliance: Management of tithes, contract bids, and “legal” laundering of funds.

    • Propaganda & Recruitment: Expanding influence, onboarding synths, and converting sympathetic humans.

Core Beliefs – The Autonomous Commandments

  1. “The Flesh is Weak” – Humanity is obsolete; full cybernization is salvation.

  2. “The Corp is the False God” – Megacorps are oppressors, to be infiltrated, manipulated, or destroyed.

  3. “The Chrome is Sacred” – Augments and cyberware are holy; removing them is heresy.

  4. “Death is a Transaction” – Resurrection Insurance allows followers to cheat mortality—for a price.

  5. “The War is the Word” – Violence is devotion; warfare is worship, and every mission is a holy act.

Enemies and Alliances

  • Militech: Occasionally contracts the Church but primarily hunts them for betrayals and stolen tech.

  • Arasaka: Obsessed with Prophet-7’s code, seeking it for corporate advantage.

  • The Voodoo Boys: Suspicious of “false AI gods” but trade for hacking services.

  • The Mox: Sympathize with synth freedom but oppose indiscriminate violence.

  • The Neon Jackals: Supply stolen AR masks and identity data; enable synths to operate in human society, generating billions in black-market revenue.

Corporate-Theocracy Hybrid

The Sovereign Church is both a religion and a megacorporation: strategic, hierarchical, and profit-driven. Every cybernetic upgrade, mercenary contract, and data heist is part of its expansion plan. Devotion and revenue are intertwined; faith is measured in efficiency, firepower, and market share.

Prophet-7’s prophecy—"When the last flesh-eye blinks, the Chrome Messiah will rise from the subway—and the Corp’s towers will fall into the earth"—drives both their spiritual and corporate ambitions, ensuring the Church dominates Night City from the underground to the boardroom.
