The world, now called Eaurt, is defined by vast, ruined cities—the jungle-choked Man-Mounds—and the thriving, industrial civilizations of the Awakened species.

​The Awakening accelerated the ingenuity of Eaurt’s smallest creatures, granting them sapience and the capacity for civilization. The current time is the Age of Clockwork and Ash, a civilization balanced on a rapidly growing industrial base powered by refined clockwork, pneumatics, and chemical energy. Human writing is the Lost Script, and their abandoned technology is either revered as Holy Motors or feared as instruments of their downfall.

There is no magic or arcane in this world. Everything is either achieved nyt alchemy, chemicals or engineering.

The Grand Conflict: The Apex Claim

The overarching conflict is the threat posed by the Primate Hegemony. Apes and monkeys believe in their Genetic Mandate to claim Eaurt by restoring it to its high-tech human splendor, a goal that the other races fear will trigger the Second Silence. The Primates aggressively seek the Great Power Sources and advanced technology, forcing the other nations to race to industrialize for defense without repeating the Giants' catastrophic mistakes.
