Fish Men
@Fish-Men are a unique and powerful humanoid race with traits and abilities derived from fish and other aquatic creatures. They are one of two dominant aquatic races alongside @Merfolk, and while they share some similarities with Merfolk, Fish-Men are distinct due to their more humanoid appearances and their immense physical strength. They are a proud and diverse people with a rich culture, yet they have historically faced deep-seated prejudice and oppression in the broader world.
Fish-Men have the physical characteristics of both humans and various species of marine life, giving them unique and varied appearances. While their basic body structure is humanoid, their features—such as gills, fins, scales, webbed hands or feet, sharp teeth, or other fish-like traits—reflect the specific aquatic species they are related to. This variety means no two Fish-Men look exactly alike, and their abilities can vary widely depending on their species.
One of the defining traits of Fish-Men is their incredible physical strength, which is naturally ten times greater than that of the average human on land. This strength is amplified underwater, making them nearly unbeatable in aquatic environments. They are exceptional swimmers, capable of navigating strong currents and diving to extreme depths without equipment.
Fish-Men are also skilled in combat, with many trained in @Fish Man Karate Fist, a martial art that harnesses the water in their surroundings—including the moisture in the air or an opponent’s body—to deliver devastating attacks. This fighting style makes them formidable both on land and in water, as it allows them to manipulate the environment to their advantage.
Fish-Men originate from @Fish-Man Island, located 10,000 meters below the surface of the sea near the base of @The Red Line. This underwater paradise serves as the cultural and political center for both Fish-Men and Merfolk, offering a vibrant and self-sustaining ecosystem.
Fish-Man culture is deeply tied to the sea, with a rich heritage of art, music, and storytelling that reflects their aquatic environment. Their society is egalitarian, with roles and responsibilities often based on individual talents rather than rigid hierarchies. They value community and mutual support, emphasizing unity in the face of adversity.
However, Fish-Men have historically struggled with issues of identity and acceptance. While many Fish-Men dream of living peacefully on the surface and building bridges between races, others harbor deep resentment toward humans due to centuries of discrimination and slavery. This tension has created divisions within Fish-Man society, with some advocating for coexistence and others for resistance or even revenge.
ish-Men have a long and complex history with humans, marked by widespread prejudice and exploitation. For centuries, Fish-Men were viewed as inferior or monstrous by many humans, leading to systemic discrimination and enslavement. The @Celestial Dragon, in particular, were notorious for using Fish-Men as slaves, perpetuating their suffering and reinforcing their status as second-class beings.
This history of oppression has left a deep scar on Fish-Man society. While many humans now recognize the strength and abilities of Fish-Men, prejudice and mistrust persist in many parts of the world. Fish-Men who travel to the surface often face suspicion or hostility, making it difficult for them to integrate into human society.
Despite these challenges, there are efforts to improve relations between Fish-Men and humans. Leaders and visionaries within Fish-Man society advocate for equality and understanding, striving to bridge the gap between the two races. These efforts have had some success, particularly among pirates and revolutionaries, who often see Fish-Men as allies rather than enemies.
Fish-Men are both feared and respected for their strength and combat abilities. While some view them as dangerous and unpredictable, others recognize their potential as allies or warriors. Pirates, in particular, often seek out Fish-Men to join their crews, knowing their strength and swimming abilities make them invaluable in battle and exploration.
The @Marine and World Government, however, continue to marginalize Fish-Men, rarely acknowledging their contributions or granting them positions of power. This institutional bias further alienates Fish-Men from the surface world, fueling resentment and rebellion.
In contrast, the @Revolutionary Army has been more inclusive, welcoming Fish-Men into their ranks and supporting their fight for equality. This alignment has given many Fish-Men hope for a future where they can live as equals among humans and other races.
