Piracy & Bounties

The seas of the world are in the grip of the Great Pirate Era, sparked by the death of Gol D. Roger and his final words:

"My treasure? If you want it, you can have it. Find it! I left everything this world has to offer there!"

Since then, thousands of men and women have taken to the seas, chasing dreams of freedom, wealth, or domination. But where pirates thrive, the World Government responds with iron law: bounties.

The Pirate Era βš“πŸ”₯

  • Before Roger – Pirates existed, but were fragmented and often localized.

  • Roger’s Execution – His last words at Loguetown ignited the seas with ambition.

  • The Age of Dreams – Every sea now teems with pirate crews, from petty raiders to Emperors.

Piracy is more than crime β€” it is a way of life, a declaration of freedom, and a rejection of crowns.

Bounties πŸ’°πŸ”–

Bounties are issued by the World Government and Marines, representing the danger a person poses to the world order. They are posted on Wanted Posters and serve as both a warning and an incentive for bounty hunters.

  • Measured in Berries (B$) – The world’s currency.

  • Not Just Strength – Bounties also reflect influence, threat to government secrets, and ability to inspire rebellion.

  • No Ceiling – Some bounties reach into the billions, rivaling nations.

  • Dead or Alive – Most pirates are wanted alive, but some are marked for execution.

Culture of Bounties

  • Pride of Pirates – Many pirates flaunt their wanted posters as proof of fame.

  • Fear of Villages – Ordinary folk see bounties as omens of danger.

  • Tools of Propaganda – The Government inflates or manipulates bounties to shape public perception.

  • Bounty Hunters – Mercenaries and guilds hunt pirates for reward, especially in the first half of the Grand Line.

Pirate Crews βš”οΈ

Crews vary wildly, but most follow a structure:

  • Captain – The dreamer, tyrant, or visionary leading the charge.

  • First Mate/Officers – Trusted fighters or tacticians.

  • Crewmen – Specialists (navigators, cooks, doctors, shipwrights, gunners).

  • Allied Fleets – Sub-crews under a single flag (seen in Yonko and Whitebeard’s empire).

Every crew carries a Jolly Roger, a flag symbolizing their spirit. To raise it is to declare war against the world.

Infamy & Legacy

  • Yonko Crews – Vast empires, the pinnacle of piracy.

  • Supernovas / Worst Generation – Rising captains with bounties over 100 million.

  • Legends of the Old Era – Rocks Pirates, Roger Pirates, remnants of an age long past.

Bounties are more than money β€” they are stories. A high bounty is a legend in the making, a warning to kings, and a beacon to rivals.
