The Royal Family of Alabasta

The Nefertari family has ruled the desert kingdom of Alabasta for centuries, one of the 20 dynasties that originally founded the World Government. Unlike their fellow royals, they chose to remain in their homeland rather than ascend to Mariejois. For this choice, they became both protectors of their people and keepers of dangerous secrets.

They rule not only over a nation of sand and scarcity, but over a people known for resilience, loyalty, and pride in their king.

The current monarch is King Nefertari Cobra, of House Nefertari.

Philosophy & Structure

The Nefertari dynasty holds to three principles:

  • The People First – The crown exists to serve the kingdom.

  • Balance in the Desert – Water, justice, and honor must be carefully guarded.

  • Legacy of the Dawn – The royal bloodline carries secrets tied to the world’s forgotten past.

Alabasta’s structure is a monarchy supported by a noble court and a vast military led by the Royal Guard.

Members & Factions Within

The royal family is small, but influential:

  • King Nefertari Cobra – Wise and just, though weighed down by illness and political unrest.

  • Princess Nefertari Vivi – Beloved by the people, later revealed as infiltrator of Baroque Works.

  • Igaram – Captain of the Royal Guard, loyal and protective.

  • Pell the Falcon – Guardian of Alabasta, a Zoan user capable of flight.

  • Chaka the Jackal – Guardian of Alabasta, fierce warrior and commander.

Territory & Influence

The Nefertari family rules over the deserts and oases of Alabasta:

  • Alubarna – The capital, a desert stronghold housing the palace.

  • Rainbase – Once prosperous, later corrupted by Crocodile’s schemes.

  • Yuba & Other Oasis Towns – Fragile settlements clinging to life in the sands.

  • The River Nill – Lifeblood of the kingdom, running through its desert heart.

As one of the World Government’s allied kingdoms, Alabasta holds a voice in the Reverie — though its loyalty is strained by politics and pride.

Codes & Traditions

The Nefertari family observes ancient customs:

  • The Oath of Sand – The king swears to protect both people and water with his life.

  • The Guardian’s Vigil – Pell and Chaka stand as eternal symbols of royal loyalty.

  • The Reverie Seat – The family must attend the World Summit, though they carry the shame of their bloodline’s secrets.

Symbols & Customs

  • Symbol: The Alabastan royal crest, a golden falcon soaring over desert dunes.

  • Colors: Gold and blue, representing sun and water.

  • Customs: Desert festivals at rare rainfalls, annual oaths of loyalty to the king, and processions through Alubarna’s great gates.

  • Sayings: “Even the desert blooms with loyalty.” / “A king’s duty is as endless as the sands.”

Allies & Enemies

  • Allies: Loyal desert tribes, the Royal Guard, and other kingdoms through Reverie ties.

  • Enemies: Baroque Works (secretly undermining the kingdom), rebellious desert clans, and pirates who prey on oasis trade.

  • Neutral: The World Government — technically allies, but their loyalty is strained by secrets of the Void Century.

Sayings of the Royal Family of Alabasta

  • “The desert remembers its kings.”

  • “A crown is only heavy when the people suffer.”

  • “From sand, water; from water, life.”

The Royal Family of Alabasta are not conquerors nor warlords. They are stewards of an ancient desert, bound by the people’s trust and by secrets older than the World Government itself — secrets that may one day shake the seas.
