The Seas & Regions of the World

The world of One Piece is a planet ruled by oceans, where islands float like scattered jewels, and only the boldest dare to cross the seas that divide them. The balance of power is shaped not only by pirates and governments, but by the seas themselves.

From the calm waters of the Blues to the chaos of the Grand Line, geography defines destiny.

The Four Blues 🌊

The world is divided into four great seas, separated by the Red Line and the Grand Line:

  • East Blue – Known as the weakest of the four seas, but home to legendary beginnings (Gol D. Roger, Monkey D. Luffy). Its simplicity hides seeds of greatness.

  • West Blue – Rich in culture and history, birthplace of many infamous figures (Nico Robin, Red-Haired Shanks). Known for underground networks and lost knowledge.

  • North Blue – Militarized and industrial, home to ruthless kingdoms and syndicates (Vinsmoke Family, Trafalgar Law).

  • South Blue – Exotic and scattered, a land of mercenaries, inventors, and unpredictable alliances.

Each sea has its own culture, yet all are isolated, their connections severed by geography.

The Red Line 🩸⛰️

A colossal, continuous continent that circles the globe, dividing the world. Impassable except through rare routes or tunnels, it is home to Mariejois, the holy city of the World Nobles.

The Red Line is both bridge and barrier, shaping how seas remain divided.

The Calm Belt 🌊🐉

Two seas flanking the Grand Line, entirely windless and swarming with Sea Kings. Ordinary ships cannot pass. Only:

  • Seastone-coated hulls mask a ship’s presence, allowing Marine vessels to traverse.

  • Massive power (like Sea Trains or warships) can force passage.

The Calm Belt acts as a natural moat, protecting the Grand Line’s mysteries.

The Grand Line ⚓🌪️

The most dangerous and coveted sea in the world, stretching across the equator and split by the Red Line.

  • Paradise (First Half) – The section entered from Reverse Mountain, unpredictable but survivable. Home to Warlords, pirates, and kingdoms battling for control.

  • The New World (Second Half) – The territory of the Yonko. Here, islands are ruled by emperors, weather is beyond reason, and only the strongest can survive.

The Grand Line is called the “pirate’s graveyard” — but it also holds the path to the One Piece.

The Florian Triangle 👻⚓

A stretch of sea cloaked in perpetual fog, swallowing countless ships. Rumors tell of ghostly lights, vanished crews, and sea monsters. Thriller Bark drifts within this haunted current.

Special Realms & Seas

  • Fish-Man Island – Located 10,000 meters below the Red Line, gateway to the New World.

  • Sky Islands – Floating seas above the clouds, accessible only by Knock-Up Streams or wings of chance.

  • Zou – A moving kingdom upon the back of the ancient elephant Zunesha.

  • Elbaf – The land of giants, feared and respected across the seas.

The Road to the End 🗺️

  • Lodestar Island – The final destination of the standard Log Pose route, where the truth of the world’s hidden history draws closer.

  • Laugh Tale – The ultimate island, said to hold the One Piece, reachable only by uniting the four Road Poneglyphs.
