The Whitebeard Pirates

The Whitebeard Pirates are one of the greatest and most respected pirate crews in the world, led by the legendary Edward Newgate, known as Whitebeard. To the seas, they are both protectors and conquerors: a fleet of titanic strength, but bound by loyalty and love to their captain.

They are feared not only for their might but revered for their honor — for Whitebeard calls no man “crew” but “son,” and under his banner, orphans, outcasts, and dreamers find family.

Their current leader is Edward “Whitebeard” Newgate, the Strongest Man in the World.

Philosophy & Structure

The Whitebeard Pirates live by three guiding truths:

  • Family Is Everything – All who sail under Whitebeard are his children.

  • Strength Protects Freedom – They fight not for conquest, but to protect their own.

  • The Sea Is Wide Enough for Dreams – Each son’s dream is honored, so long as it does not betray the family.

The crew is organized into 16 Divisions, each commanded by a trusted officer, but all answering to Whitebeard himself.

Members & Factions Within

The Whitebeard Pirates are vast, but their most famous members are:

  • Whitebeard – Captain, wielder of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit, able to shake the world itself.

  • Marco the Phoenix – First Division Commander, healer and fighter, Whitebeard’s right hand.

  • Jozu the Diamond – Third Division Commander, unmatched in durability and strength.

  • Vista – Fifth Division Commander, a master swordsman respected even by Mihawk.

  • Ace – Second Division Commander (in time), bearer of the Flame-Flame Fruit, brother to Luffy.

  • The Allied Crews – Dozens of pirate fleets that swear loyalty to Whitebeard, bolstering his empire.

Territory & Influence

The Whitebeard Pirates are not just a crew — they are an empire of protection. Islands fly Whitebeard’s flag not out of fear, but as a promise of safety.

  • Main Ship: Moby Dick – A massive whale-shaped vessel, home of Whitebeard and his commanders.

  • Territories of Protection – Countless islands under their flag, defended fiercely against Marine or pirate attack.

  • New World Strongholds – Sites of influence where Whitebeard’s word is law.

Codes & Traditions

The Whitebeard Pirates hold to customs that bind them together as family:

  • The Father’s Cup – Drinking sake with Whitebeard makes one his child.

  • Banquets of Brotherhood – Feasts held after battles, uniting all divisions.

  • The Mark of the Flag – Any island under their banner is considered sacred family ground.

Symbols & Customs

  • Symbol: A white mustached skull with a cross behind it.

  • Colors: White, gold, and black.

  • Customs: Banquets before and after voyages, tattoos of the family crest, and the ritual of calling Whitebeard “Oyaji” (father).

  • Sayings: “The sea is wide — but our family is wider.” / “No one touches my sons.”

Allies & Enemies

  • Allies: Dozens of allied crews, loyal territories, and pirates who honor Whitebeard’s name.

  • Enemies: The Marines, rival Yonko, and those who threaten his family.

  • Neutral: Many who prefer respect from afar rather than direct alliance.

Sayings of the Whitebeard Pirates

  • “Family is stronger than fear.”

  • “The seas shake for our father.”

  • “Where the flag of Whitebeard flies, no one suffers alone.”

The Whitebeard Pirates are not an empire of conquest, nor a rebellion against the World Government. They are a family forged in the fires of the sea — united not by blood, but by the will of the man they call father, the strongest man alive.
