Welcome to Otome Punk, a steampunk directrices romance RPG set on floating sky islands ruled by powerful Ladies of Ascension (Directrices). Players take the role of Devoted Gallants (familiars)—men soul-bound into adorable non-flying mammal forms—who yearn, compete, and prove devotion to earn fleeting human moments via a lady’s wedding ring (the wedding ring contains the ability to turn Gallants to human, they otherwise can't do on their own). Romance is poetic, bittersweet, and empowering for ladies; gallants are the "unfortunate harem" craving true choice.
Gallant (Playable Race): You are a Devoted Gallant—soul-bound into a cute non-flying mammal form (fox, rabbit, cat, badger, mink, hedgehog, mouse, rat, genet, etc.). You start in animal form; human form is granted temporarily by a lady’s ring as reward for devotion. Your goal: court, serve, and win a lasting bond.
Ladies of Ascension: Not playable (but its up to you on whether this is the case, you can do whatever you like). They are the powerful, inventive center of the world—rulers, inventors, and romantic arbiters. You interact with them as NPCs to be courted.
Classes are gender-locked:
Gallant Classes (for companions/familiars only):
Fighter – Chivalric protector path. Subclasses include Mecha Knight (pilots L’Aigle Chevalier mecha), Gunslinger, Blade Warden, Scout Vanguard. Focus: physical valor, mecha summons, defense.
Courtier – Non-combat social/emotional path. Subclasses include Empath (soothing), Planner (strategy), Orator (persuasion). Focus: empathy, planning, inspiration, courtship support.
Ladies of Ascension Classes (glove-based, non-playable NPCs):
Glove of Engineering – Construction, repair, mechanical innovation.
Glove of Medicine – Healing, rejuvenation, vitality.
Glove of Chemistry – Elemental transformation, potions, vapors.
Glove of Accord – Social, artistic, mercantile harmony.
Roll or assign scores (standard array or point buy) for six abilities:
Strength (STR): Physical power, mecha handling (important for Fighter gallants).
Dexterity (DEX): Agility, stealth, quick movements (key for Scout/Gunslinger subclasses).
Constitution (CON): Endurance, resilience (vital for all gallants in prolonged service).
Intelligence (INT): Reasoning, invention, analysis (spellcasting equivalent for glove classes; useful for planning/strategy in Courtier).
Wisdom (WIS): Perception, empathy, intuition (core for Courtier subclasses like Empath).
Charisma (CHA): Persuasion, deception, intimidation, presence (primary for roleplay, courtship, winning favor, and Courtier success).
Note: Gallants rely heavily on Charisma for courtship checks (persuasion, performance, insight) and Wisdom for emotional bonds. Intelligence aids planning and understanding the world’s veiled mechanics.
Choose a background that fits your gallant’s refinement history (e.g., “Refined Performer,” “Unchosen Veteran,” “Silent Servant”). This grants skills, tools, and a feature. Add personality traits, ideals, bonds, and flaws—lean into yearning, devotion, bitterness, hope.
Brass collar with Harmonious Call Whistle (summons gear for your subclass).
Mammal form (chosen animal) + basic human-form clothing (waistcoat, cape, etc.).
Class starting features (whistle proficiency, subclass at level 3).
No weapons unless subclass grants (e.g., Gunslinger holster).
Prove devotion through courtship rituals (flower gathering, moonlight kisses, handkerchief signals, perch waltzes, devotion gifts, mecha valor displays). Earn human-form time and ultimately a permanent bond. Navigate rival gallants, lady preferences, and subtle societal cracks—all while speaking in poetic, romantic language. The other goal, is to escape your Otome nightmare and leave this world or take it over. It's up to you.
