Tankborn Spine – Masterwork Galleon

@Tankborn Spine – Masterwork Galleon (Crafting & Lore Primer)

Class: Unique, Crew-Specific Galleon
Crew Capacity: 25 (maximum, designed for a fully trained master crew)
Primary Colors: Teal & Black
Home Port: Freedom Bay, Docks of Madness
Designer / Interior Artisan: Barnaby Buttercup
Shipwright / Structural Authority: Garrick Ironbone

Design Philosophy & Purpose

The Tankborn Spine is a vessel designed to embody its crew’s ethos: efficiency, mastery, and resilience. Unlike standard galleons made for 50–400 hands, this ship is optimized for a master crew, where every person has a precise role. Rookies would find themselves in the way, as even the simplest task requires timing and skill.

Its dual function as a home and fortress reflects Barnaby’s interior philosophy and Garrick’s pragmatic reinforcement: this is a ship that can survive both naval skirmishes and harsh coastal terrains, while still feeling comfortable for the crew that lives aboard.

Raw Materials System Integration

Every part of the Tankborn Spine is crafted with precision-grade materials, chosen for their traits and grades according to the Paradise Raw Materials System.

Primary Materials and Applications

  • Armadillo Shell Plates – Grade VIII Unique, Colossus size, Traits: D(+3), B(+2), H(+2), P(+1). Used for exterior armor, deck shielding, jolly boats, and the gazebo-style deck roof. Provides high physical defense, heat resistance, and natural poison/repellent properties.

  • Salvaged Giant Bones – Grade VII, Titanic, Traits: D(+2/3), M(+2), L(+1), G(+1). Used in structural framework, arches, and internal beams. Provides physical resilience, magnetic stabilization, and resistance to negative magic.

  • Rusted Iron Reinforcements – Grade V, Large, Traits: D(+2), B(+1), H(+1), Y(+1). Used for reinforced keels, cannon mounts, and wheel supports. Adds durability, heat resistance, and electrical insulation.

  • Salt-Hardened Timber – Grade VI, Large, Traits: D(+2), B(+2), C(+1). Used for decks, cabins, galley, and chow hall walls. Provides structural defense, water and mana conduction for energy systems, and stability under stress.

  • Teal-Stained Hardwoods – Grade V, Medium, Traits: D(+1), A(+1), C. Used for cabin interiors, furniture, and decorative trim. Amplifies acoustic performance for Paris Oak’s bard abilities and adds visual appeal.

  • Waterproof Carpeting – Grade IV, Medium, Traits: W, B(+1), E. Used in chow hall and cabins for comfort, mold prevention, and odor control. Liquid absorbent and heat resistant, safe for food areas.

Note: All materials were carefully refined by the crew and selected for traits that serve dual purposes: defense, comfort, and utility. Unique materials (Grade VIII+) are extremely rare, harvested from aberrant Armadillo Carapaces found in hidden coves of Freedom Bay.

Deck & Armaments

  • Main Deck: Armadillo plate gazebo-style roofing allows airflow, prevents debris accumulation, and doubles as a shield.

  • Demi-Cannons: 10 total (5 forward, 5 aft), mounted on reinforced iron and bone carriages. Grade V Iron & Grade VII Bone used for recoil absorption.

  • Swivel Cannons: 10 placed along deck edges for anti-boarding defense.

  • Wheel System: Four reinforced wheels (Grade VII Bone cores + Grade V Iron rims) allow partial land traversal and water propulsion. Controlled via helmsman’s water panels, capable of speeds comparable to a caravel. Manual pedaling supplement included.

Superstructure & Unique Features

  • Lookout Tower / Clam Pod: Crafted from Armadillo Shell with acoustic amplification traits (A+). Functions as lifeboat, observation post, and sound amplifier for Paris Oak’s music or alerts.

  • Jolly Boats (4 total): Armadillo shell design; seats 2–3; floating and puncture-resistant. Grade VIII traits ensure water cannot enter, with high durability.

  • Helmsman Deck: Complete control over water-to-wheel channels, supports speed modulation and emergency maneuvers.

Interior Layout & Raw Material Integration

Chow Hall (Lower Deck / Storage Replacement)

  • Central circular table: Grade V Teal Hardwood, Traits D(+1), A(+1), seats 25, permanent structure for crew meetings and meals.

  • Shelved walls: Grade V Salt-Hardened Timber, Traits D(+2), C(+1), secures food, utensils, supplies, doors prevent spillage during movement.

  • Flooring & Carpeting: Waterproof Carpeting, Traits W, B(+1), E, provides comfort and hygiene.

  • Lighting / Fixtures: Grade IV Crystal, Traits C(+), A(+1), amplifies natural and magical light, enhancing morale.

Purpose: Meals, strategy, and crew bonding. Mirrors a traditional galleon’s storage deck but optimized for human comfort.

Private Cabins

  • Walls & beds: Salt-Hardened Timber, Traits D(+2), B(+1), 1–2 occupants per cabin.

  • Furniture / storage: Teal Hardwood, Traits A(+1), C, personalization and acoustic amplification for morale.

Note: No captain’s quarters; every crew member has equal-sized space to promote equality, autonomy, and mental well-being.

Kitchen / Galley

  • Stoves & ovens: Iron & Bone, Traits D(+2), H(+1), B(+1), supports crew meals, safe under extreme conditions.

  • Work surfaces: Teal Hardwood, Traits A(+1), C, amplifies cooking efficiency and sound for communication.

Ship Aesthetic & Symbolism

  • Colors: Teal & Black — reflects the crew’s unity, mastery, and intimidating presence.

  • Design: Overlapping armadillo plates, skeletal arches, and unique hull curvature make the ship appear organic, alive, and impossibly strong.

  • Crew Identity: Every design choice balances function, comfort, and visual storytelling, reinforcing the Spine’s image as a crew’s home and weapon.

Crew Philosophy Embedded in Ship

  1. Compact & Mastery-Focused: Only a trained crew can operate efficiently.

  2. Home & Fortress: Every design element doubles as safety and comfort.

  3. Land & Sea Adaptable: Wheels + water panels reflect crew ingenuity.

  4. Acoustic & Visual Theater: Amplifies Paris Oak’s performances and communication.

  5. Precision Weaponry: Weapons and armor designed for skilled operators rather than mass firepower.

The Tankborn Spine is a Grade VIII Unique Galleon, a living testament to the Valiant Crew’s skill, taste, and resource mastery. Rare, adaptable, and dangerous, built from the finest materials Paradise has to offer, with traits enhancing survival, comfort, and battle efficiency.
