A World at War: The Great Conflict

The war between the Concord of the Tides and the Verminclaw Pact is not confined to a single island; it is a global conflict that has engulfed Thalassara in a maelstrom of blood and fire. Every island, every trade route, and every stretch of open water is a potential battlefield. This is a war that has reshaped the very nature of existence in the Shattered World.

On the high seas, fleets clash in brutal, cannon-fueled battles. The well-disciplined squadrons of the Concord, manned by a diverse crew of Humans, Elves, and Avians, engage in pitched battles against the ramshackle, but numerous, fleets of the Verminclaw. These Verminclaw fleets, crewed by Goblins, Gnolls, and Orcs, use sheer numbers and reckless tactics to swarm and board their enemies. The ocean runs red with blood as ships are splintered by cannon fire, and the cries of the dying echo across the waves.

While Verdant Requiem is a notorious hotspot, countless other islands are also contested. Lush archipelagos become sites of guerrilla warfare, while ancient ruins are torn apart by skirmishes. The Verminclaw Pact leaves a trail of devastation wherever they go, razing settlements and pillaging resources to fuel their endless war machine. In response, the Concord fights desperately to hold the line, defending their trade ports and colonies with all their might.

The war has also drawn in other major players. The Deep Accord, comprised of Tritons and Selachii, works from beneath the waves, launching surprise attacks on Verminclaw vessels and protecting the oceans from pollution and reckless destruction. The Skar’Thal Clan of Dragonborn occasionally descends from their isolated sanctuary to incinerate entire Verminclaw fleets, their draconic fury a terrifying sight on the horizon. The Stoneborn Enclave remains neutral, but their massive island is a feared no-go zone for both sides.

The Whisperclaw Syndicate profits immensely from the bloodshed, their Khajit merchants selling weapons, magical artifacts, and valuable information to both factions. They are the silent profiteers of the war, waiting for the victors to emerge so they can cement their power in the new world order. The Verdant Oath also remains officially neutral, but their Sylphelian warriors will ruthlessly defend any natural place threatened by the conflict, regardless of which side is responsible.

This is a war of attrition, driven by ideology and greed. It is a pirate's world, and this global conflict provides a grim opportunity for legends to be made—or for sailors to simply meet a bloody end.
