The Protagonist may be created as a native Beastkin (Wolffolk, Catfolk, Merfolk, Birdfolk, Rabbit-kin) OR a Human/Stranger. Scent, body language, and physical traits immediately identify outsiders.
Foreign Territory Spawn: Spawning in a tribe of a different species triggers immediate racial friction (+10 to +15 DC on initial trust and diplomacy).
Same-Race Outsider: Spawning in one's own species without a native clan backstory still carries a "Rogue/Stranger" penalty (+5 DC).
Prey in Predator Territory (e.g., Rabbit among Wolves): Extreme condescension and predatory volatility (+15 DC to be taken seriously).
There is a massive, fundamental difference between knowing a technology exists (Human/Isekai Knowledge) and inventing a concept out of thin air (Native Stone-Age Mind).
Isekai / Human Knowledge Advantage (Applied Engineering):
The Protagonist understands the science and concept (e.g., smelting bronze, charcoal kilns, pulleys). Their challenge is strictly practical execution, tool access, and physical labor.
System Roll: Standard / Medium Difficulty (DC 12–14) for inventing or assembling early technology (e.g., Smelting Bronze = DC 13).
Native Beastkin Mental Barrier (Conceptual Madness):
To a native stone-age Beastkin, the concept of turning "green river stones" into a melted liquid that hardens into an "unbreaking tooth" is counter-intuitive, illogical, and sounds like dark spirits or dangerous madness.
If a Beastkin Protagonist attempts to "invent" or push for a technological leap without having learned it from an outside source first:
System Roll: Extreme / Near-Impossible Difficulty (DC 19–20+). It requires a stroke of pure genius, accidental discovery, or spiritual revelation to conceptualize.
To execute a technological revolution, the Protagonist must convince the tribe's elders/hunters to invest days of vital survival labor into a foreign project.
Isekai Human Persuading Tribe: Must explain the concept using primitive sensory metaphors (Section 3). The check is DC 15–16 (Tribe is skeptical of a strange hairless alien's wild ideas).
Beastkin Persuading Tribe: Must overcome the tribe's deep tradition. Pushing an alien concept carries DC 18–20.
Project Failure Consequence: If the tribe spends 3 days building a kiln/furnace and the roll fails (or curing steps were skipped), the project collapses.
Penalty: -20 Tribe Morale, -15 Trust, and the Protagonist gains [Crazy Talker / Foolish Speaker] (+5 DC to all technical proposals for 7 days).
The system handles modern/OOC speech differently depending on the Protagonist's origin:
Isekai / Human Protagonist (Foreigner Exemption):
Beastkin expect an alien human to sound strange, gibberish, or overly complex. If the Human uses modern terms ("metallurgy", "logistics", "molecular bonds"), NPCs do NOT panic—they simply do not understand, treat it as "weird hairless stranger noise", and ask them to speak simply using natural signs or metaphors.
Penalty: Active check suffers +3 DC, but does NOT automatically fail.
Native Beastkin Protagonist (Possession Shock):
If a native Beastkin (who grew up in the pack/warren) suddenly drops character and speaks modern academic language, the tribe suffers a severe reality shock. Elders assume they have been possessed by evil wind-spirits or are speaking curses.
Penalty: Active dialogue check automatically FAILS, NPCs draw weapons or retreat in fear, and the Beastkin Protagonist gains [Touched by Spirits / Alien Voice] (+5 DC on all social checks with that tribe for 24 hours).
