Forgotten History

When the Railroad Company first came to power in the 1400s, they set about destroying races and history they found opposed to their rule. Below is a list of historical facts they have tried to erase all knowledge of.

Other Races

Orcs: Orcs were powerful, broad-bodied humanoids known for their endurance, direct nature, and disciplined aggression. They grew quickly, stood taller and stronger than most humans, and thrived in harsh environments. Though many orc clans valued strength and tradition, individuals often broke from old prejudices to seek purpose through honor, service, or personal growth. Orcs adapted well to frontier life, martial roles, and demanding physical work. Mostly extinct, Orcs are sometimes rumored to have eked out homes in some of the most uninhabitable lands in the Steppes.

Dwarves: They were stout and strong, skilled in metalwork and masonry, making some of the earliest and ancient machines that ran on arcane power. While their ruins sporadically dot the mountains and desert lands, Dwarves are completely extinct.

Elves: They are generally graceful and wise, with an affinity for nature and magic. While the Railroad Company teaches that elves are just a fantasy, elven kind adapted to survive alongside humans, often covering their ears and filling positions as scientists. They are still quite common, even if they are treated as humans.

Tiefling: Beings with infernal heritage with a natural affinity for dark magics, originally created to be servants to the fiends of Hell. While they once roamed the mortal plane, they were forced to retreat to Hell by the Railroad Company. Only The Maw houses Tieflings in The World of Cresh.

Monsters: The Railroad Company teaches that monsters are all fictional stories. Dragons are extinct, though their bones are sometimes found in the wilderness. Other rare and dangerous creatures are usually only found in deep caves, ancient ruins, or dungeons as they are quickly killed and covered up by the Railroad Company if they get close to towns and cities.

Vampires: The Railroad Company claims to have eliminated all vampires, but pockets of them still very much exist, and some even live amongst the cities and towns living secret lives.

Deities: The Railroad Company teaches that all deities are false, and bans their worship, burning any literature about them. The barbarians in The Frozen North still worship Norse Mythology, Mystra is the sole god ruling Heaven, and Arkan rules Hell as the only deities with enough followers left to sustain them despite the Railroad company denying their existence. Ruins of forgotten deity temples can be found scattered throughout the world in the wilderness.
