The World of Cresh is a vast, never-evolving continent teeming with life, danger, and wonder. Spanning icy tundra, sweltering steppes, sun-blasted deserts with an irradiated border, its lands are shaped by mortal ambition and science. At its heart lies the Railroad Company, ruling over every region except the deserts east of the radiation Veil, and the Frozen North. Only one government is officially recognized, where only women are allowed to have and hold positions of authority. Magic and religion are outlawed, both being severely punished. Gods do not interact with the living world, existing to most as rumors only, but do interact with dead souls. Heroes and villains clash in forgotten ruins, bustling cities, rustic wilds, and wastelands while mythical creatures hide in lairs or sanctuaries. In Cresh, raw science rules the day.
A combination of mountains and tundra plains that never thaw. This area is home only to barbaric tribes and creatures mostly forgotten by the rest of the world with no ruling government
This desert is a true wasteland where pure water is the most precious commodity. Mostly sand and rock, with sparse ruins of long forgotten temples of ancient gods and forgotten civilizations. Crossing The Veil inside of it is considered a high crime punishable by death, assuming the crossers survive the trip in the first place. East of The Veil the faction known as The Hive lives and operates.
The rocky area of the south where vegetation stops growing and everything turns to rocks and steep steppes.
A large area of the world in the southeast of Cresh that is predominately a mixture of marshes, swamps, and steppes with a large fresh water lake. Many creatures and animals live here with a few cities and towns strewn across this region, all under the Railroad Company's authority.
A vast area of open plains and grasslands dedicated to farming communities that provide most of Cresh with food. Males are predominate here, but used to work the farms as pure labor while the few females in the towns and cities own the lands, stores, and run the administration. This area in ruled by the Railroad Company and has a couple of cities, and many small farming towns.
This area is the primary source of industry for The World of Cresh, dotted with many railroad hubs, manufacturing sites, and labor camps. The cities and towns are heavily polluted, and the air has a general smokey haze at all times. This area is ruled firmly by the Railroad Company.
The STEM Lands are dedicated to places of higher learning, focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. College towns and universities can be found here, all under the authority of the Railroad Company. This area also houses the only legal launch site for craft to be shot into outer space for exploration.
A mixture of rivers, plains, and border forests with only a light amount of pollution, this area is thought to be where the first humans of Cresh evolved. Steeped in history, with castles, cities and towns, all with varying degrees of advanced technology in use. This area is firmly under the control of the Railroad Company.
This area stands in stark contrast to the rest of the world as a large forest sheltering abundant wild animals, hidden sanctuaries of ancient creatures and races, and several small hamlets and a few large cities focused on logging and mining. This area is under the rule of the Railroad Company, though many inhabitants protest the government and secretly join resistance forces in the area.
A rocky steppe area in the southwest of Cresh, home to ancient castles and fortifications from forgotten times, and sharing a lake with other regions on its border to the north. A few towns and cities are located here amongst the ruins, mostly focused on salt mining and prison camps. The area is ruled over by the Railroad Company.
Humans dominate by sheer numbers and statecraft, but elves, halflings, insectoids, vampires, and others hold ancestral lands or new homelands, often layered upon older ruins. While the Railroad Company rules most of the world, pockets of factions in hiding exist in most corners as well. Frontier bandits operate as gangs. Trade shipments are done over the railroad lines or by river.
