Jörmungandr's Faithful

The tavern’s regulars are a mix of Lítillfolk wanderers, exiled Frost‑Fang warriors, Free‑Soul outcasts, and occasional giant patrons who come in disguise. The majority are Lítillfolk and giant women who serve, cook, and trade gossip, while a handful of male giants handle the ale and bar. A small contingent of exiled giants sometimes lurk in the shadows, listening to the tavern’s rumors before leaving the market’s heat. The tavern’s clientele also includes thieves and smugglers who use the place as a neutral meeting ground for deals.

The tavern sits in the steaming caldera of Thieves’ Landing, so the air is thick with sulfurous steam and the warm glow of geothermal vents. The interior is dim, lit by hanging lanterns and the flickering heat of a central hearth. A low hum of conversation, clinking mugs, and the occasional song fills the space, while the smell of hot iron, smoked meats, and brewed ale mingles. The constant steam creates a hazy, almost otherworldly ambience, making the tavern feel like a safe haven from the harsh winter outside.

Lítillfolk women and giant women form the backbone of the tavern: they serve ale, cook stews, weave tales, and maintain the bar’s hidden passages. Their skills in forging, textile weaving, and rune‑carving are prized, and they often barter rare goods for information. They are known for their resilience, singing old songs that keep the memory of the giants’ history alive. Their presence ensures the tavern remains a hub for gossip, trade, and safe passage for all who seek shelter in the caldera.

The walls are carved from local stone, etched with runes and scenes of giant myth. A massive, polished obsidian counter runs along the back, topped with a carved serpent motif that represents Jörmungandr. Tables are sturdy wooden planks salvaged from giant gear, and the bar stools are made from repurposed giant‑scale iron. A large hearth dominates the center, surrounded by stone benches. Lanterns made of fused glass hang from the rafters, casting a warm amber light. Murals depict the world’s history and the giants’ deeds, serving both as decoration and warning.
