Beneath the vegetation lies a weathered stone that predates the surrounding courtyard, and possibly Rosewick itself.
Its surface carries faint markings almost completely erased by age. Some resemble symbols found elsewhere in Rosewick's oldest history, including fragments associated with the year 1247, though their meaning has been lost.
The stone has remained here through generations of construction. Old buildings were raised around it, streets changed, properties divided and the courtyard eventually forgotten, yet for reasons no surviving record clearly explains, the stone itself was never removed.
Those sensitive to supernatural forces may recognize that something about the stone is unusual, but it does not reveal its purpose or history. Touching it should not automatically trigger visions, open portals or explain the First Severance. Any reaction should remain subtle unless a campaign develops the mystery further.
The stone is connected to The First Severance, but exactly how is deliberately unresolved. It may have witnessed the event, marked something important, formed part of something larger or possess a significance that has been misunderstood for centuries.
