Somewhere among Rosewick's older records is a map showing a road that no longer exists. It once continued far beyond the routes used today, disappearing deep into the surrounding forest. Modern maps contain no trace of it, and most locals have never heard of such a road.
But the map is not wrong.
Beneath decades of vegetation, fragments of the old route still remain: unusually level stretches of ground, stones arranged where road edges once stood, rotting posts hidden among trees and occasional markings nearly swallowed by bark.
Following those traces eventually leads to the abandoned @Old Ranger Station .
Inside, old maps, ranger logs and handwritten notes may provide fragments of information about the road and the forest beyond it. Some records contain locations absent from modern maps. Others mention closed routes, unusual observations or instructions left by people who once worked there. Several pages and records are missing entirely.
Why the road was abandoned, why it disappeared from later maps, and where it ultimately leads are not established.
