Bestiary - Codex Bestia Divinus Chapter I
CARNAGE – The Valor Eater
(Inversion of Valor, The Pillar of Defiance)
Designation: Carnivorum Bellatoris
Threat Class: III–IV
Known Forms: The Iron Pack, the Bastion Howlers, the Red Saint
Manifestation Profile:
Where courage turns to frenzy, Carnage takes root. These entities are forged in battlefields, arenas, and execution grounds — places where bravery curdled into bloodlust. Their bodies resemble armored giants or quadrupeds made of molten plate and sinew, weapons fused into bone.
Behavior:
Drawn to acts of valor, feeding on adrenaline and righteous fury. Every wound they inflict amplifies aggression in those nearby; armies consumed by rage create more of them.
Resonance Effect:
Distorts the Valor frequency into unstable kinetic loops — causing Awakened of Valor to lose control of resonance.
Containment Notes:
Wardens use Mercy resonant fields to pacify the rage surrounding it before engaging. Never challenge directly; every act of defiance nourishes it.
Doctrine Line:
“Do not fight the Carnage. Deny it your bravery — let cowardice save your life.”
CONSUMPTION – The Devourer Choir
(Inversion of Mercy, The Pillar of Restoration)
Designation: Chorus Absorpta
Threat Class: II–III
Known Forms: Flesh Choirs, the Communion Plague, the Weeping Halo
Manifestation Profile:
Forms where compassion and despair overlap — hospitals, sanctuaries, or sites of failed miracles. Appears as clusters of semi-transparent bodies, merging and separating in rhythm with a single, pulsing heartbeat.
Behavior:
Seeks union through devouring. Believes consumption = oneness. It whispers comfort before assimilation.
Resonance Effect:
Drains life essence and Aetherlight simultaneously; victims are left translucent, singing until their bodies collapse into radiant slurry.
Containment Notes:
Halo Guild illumination disrupts fusion process. Sever mental connections with silencing runes; prolonged empathy contact accelerates infection.
Doctrine Line:
“Mercy without boundaries is the doorway of Consumption.”
III. DELIRIUM – The False Mirror
(Inversion of Truth, The Pillar of Clarity)
Designation: Veritas Fragmenta
Threat Class: IV
Known Forms: Hall-of-Glass Entities, the Smiling Reflection, the Eye of the Room
Manifestation Profile:
Emerges near reflective surfaces or during Veil desynchronizations in the District of Truth. Takes the shape of living mirrors or shifting humanoid silhouettes composed of refracted light.
Behavior:
Feeds on perception — every time it’s observed, it grows more “real.” Replaces its victims within their own memories, walking out of mirrors as them.
Resonance Effect:
Causes Truth Delirium: sufferers cannot distinguish between original and reflection, leading to self-erasure.
Containment Notes:
Total darkness or shattering reflective mediums neutralize. Never look directly; all containment is done blindfolded or by resonance sensors.
Doctrine Line:
“The lie that kills you first must look exactly like you.”
IV. TYRANNY – The Scalesbroken
(Inversion of Judgment, The Pillar of Wrath)
Designation: Dominus Iudex
Threat Class: III–V
Known Forms: Tyrant Seraphs, the Burning Chain, the Choir of Law
Manifestation Profile:
Born from fanatic order — prisons, tribunals, and warzones ruled by blind justice. Appears as enormous mechanical seraphs inscribed with decrees that scream when read aloud.
Behavior:
Seeks to impose order through annihilation. Marks victims with radiant sigils of guilt, siphoning vitality from their remorse.
Resonance Effect:
Overwrites surrounding frequencies with “law” — Awakened powers stop working unless sanctioned by the entity’s will.
Containment Notes:
Must be approached by those free of guilt (Wardens purified by the Mercy Rite). Avoid verbal engagement; its words rewrite oaths into bindings.
Doctrine Line:
“Tyranny begins when Judgment forgets why it weighs.”
V. OBLIVION – The Erased
(Inversion of Memory, The Pillar of Echoes)
Designation: Oblivionem Sussurrae
Threat Class: V
Known Forms: The Nameless, the Blank Choir, the Forgotten Tide
Manifestation Profile:
Appears as silhouettes stitched from static or written light. Wherever it moves, names vanish, voices distort, and even archives lose reference to events that occurred.
Behavior:
Feeds on remembrance. Erases its victims from history, reality, and emotion simultaneously. Survivors retain only a haunting “absence” — grief without source.
Resonance Effect:
Causes catastrophic data loss across Archive Guild networks; records spontaneously delete themselves.
Containment Notes:
Cannot be fought — only delayed by constant verbal recollection of the self. Wardens wear name sigils in blood as identity anchors.
Doctrine Line:
“To remember is resistance.”
VI. DESPAIR – The Mourning Sun
(Inversion of Hope, The Pillar of Light)
Designation: Lux Mortis
Threat Class: V
Known Forms: The Weeping Sun, the Grayscale Serpent, The Dimming
Manifestation Profile:
Massive serpentine entity woven of black aurora. Appears during mass grief, Veil Storms, or failed Hope festivals.
Behavior:
Projects a field of emotional nullification — victims lose all motivation, then life. Feeds on collective hopelessness, growing brighter as the city darkens.
Resonance Effect:
Overwhelms the Hope frequency, reducing illumination citywide; may cause Veil dimming.
Containment Notes:
Hope cannot be forged — only reignited. Public morale rituals by the Halo Guild can repel it. Laughter, music, or communal light rites weaken its form.
Doctrine Line:
“Despair is hope inverted — the light that remembers it once was.”
VII. CORRUPTION – The Unholy Offering
(Inversion of Sacrifice, The Pillar of Blood)
Designation: Sacrificium Invertus
Threat Class: V (Extinction-Class)
Known Forms: The Red God, the Inverted Cross, the Heart Rot
Manifestation Profile:
Manifests deep beneath Sanctum Prime — near reactors, mass graves, or martyr altars. Appears as a mass of pulsating organs suspended in radiant chains, whispering prayers backward.
Behavior:
Transforms death into contagion; every creature it kills rises as a smaller version of itself. Believes decay is the purest worship.
Resonance Effect:
Corrupts Sacrifice frequency; Awakened of Blood risk permanent fusion with the Veil when near it.
Containment Notes:
Only purification via self-sacrifice can reseal breaches. The Crimson Host treats these events as holy martyrdom operations.
Doctrine Line:
“It is not the blood we give that damns us — it is what still asks for more.”
