History
Dawn of the End
Not much is known of the history of the world, most was lost at the Dawn of the End, when the gods tore open the veil between their realm and the mortal world, creation itself began to unravel. The divine did not return as saviors they descended as predators. They fed on the souls of all the world in a desperate seek to satisfy their hunger.
The Last God
Amidst the apocalypse, one god broke from the chorus of hunger.
His name is forbidden, forgotten, or perhaps erased by divine will. He is remembered only as The Last God , the one who chose compassion over consumption.
Defying his brethren, The Last God turned His divine essence inward and ignited it in a sacrificial flare a blaze so radiant it shattered Him completely. This cataclysmic act of resistance birthed @Sanctum Prime a city and miracle. A sanctuary against annihilation.
From His broken soul fell seven radiant fragments, each one a crystallized shard of pure divinity. These fragments embedded themselves across the city, forming the Pillars of Aetherlight , monumental spires of shimmering energy that anchor the Sanctum Veil , the barrier that shields the city from the hunger of the evil Gods.
The Sanctum Veil
The Sanctum Veil is a radiant aurora part barrier, part beacon that encircles the city and repels the devouring touch of the other gods. Its presence is visible in the sky at night: a flickering curtain of spectral light, always shifting, always strained.
The Last God’s light held strong for centuries, giving rise to myths, cults, and forbidden prayers whispered in alleys and temples-turned-bunkers. Yet time is the enemy of all miracles.
The Pillars now pulse irregularly. Their light dims. Whispers from the void grow louder. Beasts born of divine hunger gnash at the Veil, while heretic sects and corrupted emissaries attempt to breach or reclaim the Pillars.
Some believe The Last God still lingers splintered across the seven fragments, asleep beneath the city, or watching through mortal eyes. Others believe He is gone, and only the Veil remains to remember Him.
