Faction: Krygen Coalition

Krygen Coalition

A collection of drow and deep gnome city states in the east of the Kjellan Wilds. There are four cities. There are also small villages and outposts that are used for guarding and farming. To make the confederation work, the cities are specialised in specific services and goods to promote trade and cooperation between them.

Each city is ruled by a Tyrant, Batos and Cultor. Tyrants manage the city’s defences and army. Batos’ manage the city’s buildings and infrastructure. Cultor’s are the city’s high priests and manage religious matters. The deep gnomes generally live in enclaves beneath the four cities however many choose to live on the surface. The gnomes control most of the guilds in the cities which aid the rulers in forging, construction, trade and magical research.

The three rulers of each city are part of the same family and so there are four drow houses in the coalition. The four houses form a council which handles foreign affairs.

Cities:

  • Narsurin, City of Splendour. The city in the centre of the coalition’s lands, ruled by the Great House of Narsur. They possess access to the coalition’s gold mines below the surface, at the top of the Shadows Beneath. They are expert goldsmiths and create the currency used in the coalition. They also use the gold to craft golden arms and armour used by the house’s personal guards. The current Tyrant of Narsurin is Vuvyr Narsur. His brother Vhulimar Narsur is the Batos and their sister Mounrafein Narsur is the Cultor.

Locations in Narsurin include Narsur Hall, the residence of the ruling family, the Guild of Gold, a gnomish guild that provides much of the workforce in the gold mines and trading houses and The Golden Goblet, a famous tavern.

  • Duicil, City of Arms. This city at the base of the eastern mountains is ruled by the Great House of Duicil. They are great smiths and builders, mining the nearby mountains for iron to be crafted into arms and armour. They have also carved paths through the mountains, heavily linking the city with Darrowstawn which sits on the coast and specialises in its navy and fishing. The Tyrant of Duicil is Zilvaer Duicil. Her brother Barzaer Duicil is the Batos and the Cultor is their brother Vhurdaer Duicil. The Iron House, a gnome guild controls the mines and patrols and defends the tunnels leading to Darrowstawn. The gnomes of this guild are highly influential and are expert miners, tunnelers and heavy troops.

Notable locations in Duicil include the Iron Crown, the bastion keep of the Duicil family, the Iron Hedges, the gnomish keep guarding the tunnel path to Darrowstawn, A Stack of Ingots, a smithy, and The Rusty Pick, an inn and tavern.

  • Darrowstawn, City of the Sea. This city sits on the eastern coast of the Kjellan Wilds and is ruled by the Great House of Darrow. They control the coalition’s navy and sea trade. House Darrow has changed the name of Tyrant to Sea Lord. The Sea Lord Kophyn Darrow. His sister Shurphyn Darrow is the Batos and their sister Imraphyn Darrow is the Cultor. There is no gnomish guild native to Darrowstawn as the Sea Lord controls the navy and trade however many gnomes serve in the navy, over the years the gnomes of Darrowstawn have created a rich tradition of expert naval gunnery techniques.

Notable locations in Darrowstawn include Salt Spire, the Darrow family’s keep high up on the cliffs overlooking the sea, the Lonely Lighthouse Inn, the Thrice-Pronged Alter, a great statue and shrine dedicated to Myrmidonna.

  • Hrumindo, City of Abundance. This city is in the north west of the coalition and is ruled by the Great House of Hrum. They are great farmers and builders. The city is the largest of the four cities, with many high walls containing large farms. The city boasts powerful siege weapons and strategies on defending cities and reducing them to rubble. The Tyrant is Ristel Hrum. His brother Yaztel Hrum is the Batos and their brother Istel Hrum is the Cultor.

Notable locations in Hrumindo include the Great Safehold, the Hrum family’s impregnable fortress, The Farmstead Inn, a grand farmhouse turned inn, The Siegeworks, a huge fortification at the edge of Hrumindo that forges and houses the many great siege engines of the city.

The Krygen Coalition worship Anagenissi as their main deity however other gods are also allowed to be worshipped. For example many in Darrowstawn worship Myrmidonna as their main deity and those in Hrumindo favour Vedaudur.
