Faction: Noyvda and Skomi
City of Noyvda and Skomi Dwarves
The City of Noyvda sits in the far north of the Kjellan Wilds and is a city of Noydani humans and Skomi dwarves. The city’s banner is a blue mountain with two hands clasped above it, on a white field.
The Noydani are from the continent of Old Yjellan and had their own society there, until it was destroyed in The Ending. The Noydani in the Kjellan Wilds are the survivors. They settled in the mountains in the north of the Kjellan Wilds and did not push further with the Yjellanders, and as such did not suffer the effects of Zenobia’s necromantic wave.
They were led by Axdeni Noyvda, the daughter of a Noydani Karl. The Karl wanted to stand his ground against the invasion of giants however Axdeni believed it to be a hopeless cause and led anyone who volunteered to venture south in search of a new home. The City of Noyvda was built, however unbeknownst to the Noydani, they had built their city above a dwarven city which was underground, called Skomizharr. These ‘Skomi’ dwarves were a hardy folk who delved deep into the Shadows Beneath, mining for valuable resources. They were also the first civilisation to develop gunpowder. The Skomi were governed by a council of four. The leader of the council was Denneth Skomiison.
When the Skomi and Noydani came into contact both leaders were in their old age. Denneth and Axdeni forged a peace agreement, surprisingly without bloodshed. Now, the two races help each other. The Skomi dwarves share their mining and gunpowder resources while the Noydani protect them from surface threats and forge trade agreements with other surface nations.
In the Current Era, the both cities have merged into one metropolis. The families of Noyvda and Skomiison intermarried, creating the Noyvskom dynasty. As did many citizens. Most inhabitants have both human and dwarven blood in them, making them slightly shorter than the average human yet stronger. The current ruler is High Karl Alexei Noyvskom. He takes more after his human ancestors and as such is taller and more lithe. He is married to a dwarf noble named Drissa Melik. Alexei favours a defensive stance and prefers to keep his army trained and ready to defend while he pursues trade alongside his dwarven allies. The Noyvda army is very well trained, boasting strong boyar cavalry, heavy axe wielding infantry and firearms using regiments. Vedaudur, Strid and Drukknath are primarily worshipped here.
The city is split into four districts:
Defence Ring. This comprises the city’s high walls and the area behind them. There are two layers of walls, alongside barricades and traps, with army barracks behind them.
Residential Quarter. This is where most of the citizens live, complete with housing, taverns, inns and brothels. Gorod’s Vessel, a large tavern in the centre of the quarter is popular among the soldiers and even has a range out its back for shooting and axe throwing.
Trades Quarter. In between the Defence Ring and Residential Quarter is the Trades Quarter. Here there are shops, markets and trade houses housing caravans from distant lands. A famous shop here, called Peak Efficiency, run by a dwarf named Bofor specialises in gunpowder, mechanical items and enchanting. Artificers from across Latys make sure to stop by at least once.
Mining Quarter. Below the surface is the mining quarter. Here, those who work underground live and work, mining precious metals and gems to be crafted and traded. A tavern called Braggart’s Brews is always filled with miners and is a raucous place which always has a band playing.
High Karl’s Hall. Alexei Noyvda’s place of residence is a keep that reaches from the surface to below ground, with the road connecting the mine and surface running around the keep.
