Faction: Panna Realm
Panna Realm
The Panna Realm is located in the eastern forest of the Freedlands. It is home to a collection of dryads, centaurs, minotaurs and satyrs. It is governed by four Elder Voices, one voice for each species in the realm. Each elder is picked by their people based on different merits. Dryads are picked based on their magical power. Centaurs are chosen based on their aptitude for strategy. Minotaurs are chosen based on their strength and battle prowess while Satyrs are picked based on their ability to drink large amounts of alcohol and imbibe the most special fungi that grow around the realm. Satyrs that take enough fungus may eventually awaken ancient nature powers, becoming known as Pans.
The species live in relative harmony as they are largely reliant on each other. Before coming into contact with other nations the Panna creatures filled their time with pursuing different arts. From seeding growth through magic to melee tournaments in their grove arenas to drinking contests. When Steppen Highlanders roved south and came into contact, the Panna were well prepared for fighting and a short but bloody conflict ensued, known as the War for the Wilds sometime in the late Early Days. The Steppen could not get past the Panna’s forest lines however the Panna could not get through the Steppen’s river outposts. Following a stalemate both sides stopped their incursions and an uneasy truce came into being.
The inhabitants of Panna worship Ogon, Lochor and Drukknath.
Panna
This is the largest settlement in Panna and is where the disparate species came through portals from Elfhame in ages past. Surprisingly it was a Pan that seeded a great tree from which the city spread around. The Pan would go on to seed four lesser trees around the forest. Panna is well defended, with trees seeded to form thick walls around the settlement. Buildings not made into the trees themselves are usually made out of mud and thatch. Panna’s notable buildings include:
Hut of Voices. This large hut is where the Elder Voices meet at the start of each spring to decide on matters for the coming year such as events, diplomacy and war.
The Avli Filonikas, or brawl yard, is where many minotaurs come to test their strength against one another and often fight in one on one duels and larger melees. Mestos the minotaur organises fights and tournaments here.
The Byra Hall. A place of merriment, a large hall where the Panna, mostly satyrs, go, drink and be merry. It is run by a Pan named Setos and everyone’s first drink is always free.
The Agona. A large piece of land where centaurs go to race each other and joust. Satyrs and minotaurs love to go here to watch them race, apart from drinking and fighting. An old centaur named Aglikes runs the races here.
The Anokala. A secluded grove within the grounds of Panna. A place of tranquillity and magic, where dryads go to learn the arts of magic and song. The Mother of the Spring, an ex Elder Voice dryad, oversees teaching here.
The Pannagora. A large market where members of each settlement come to trade and is where the start of the Xanarchia festival starts.
The Axedio
The Axedio is north of the city of Panna and is where centaurs that show promise in strategy go to learn more complex battle tactics. It is a large thatch longhouse complete with sleeping quarters and rooms for wargames. Here centaur generals test their battle strategies against each other. In the grounds around The Axedio the centaurs face off against each other in real time, with healers on hand in case there are any fatalities. The current centaur general and Elder Voice is Idomilles, an aged and wise centaur who is an expert in archery.
Patonnia Ground
This settlement south west of Panna, near Pakov Mount and The Seven Scars, is a sacred war site of the minotaurs. When other, more unsavoury, creatures were made by Gaia during The Ending, a green dragon took up residence on Pakov Mount. A titanic battle between the dragon and the minotaurs took place, resulting in the creation of The Seven Scars, seven stretches of land around Pakov Mount that had been scarred and festered by the dragon’s decaying magic. The minotaurs retreated after coming under attack by the forest itself; humanoids and creatures made of vines, seemingly defending the dragon. Since then, minotaurs venture to Patonnia Ground to train in the arts of battle and to defend the forest from incursions from Pakov Mount. Hilamira is the current minotaur Elder Voice and resides at Patonnia Ground.
Satothymia
This settlement, if you could call it one, is close to the western border with Edhellen. It is a collection of groves connected by paths lit up by fairy mushrooms. Each grove has a number of pavilions at each one. Satothymia is a place of drunken merriment. Satyrs congregate here to have parties, and drunkenly plan raids into Edhellen following said parties. A great Pan named Lectos resides here and is the satyr Elder Voice.
Oneira Grove
The first place to be settled by dryads when the Panna spread out from their first great tree. It is a site of serenity where dryads are selected to become an Elder Voice. The dryads here tend to the grove and provide healing to the injured that are brought here. Many satyrs come here to get away from their raucous way of life and to live in tranquillity. The current dryad Elder Voice is named Althea.
