Faction: The Naga Kings

The Naga Kings

The Naga Kings of western Rajana inhabit the Godspine Mountains and constantly wage war on the rajarasha. From an outsider’s perspective they are similar to the rajarasha in their way of life. Constant war and a brutal system of slavery has hardened the Naga Kings, known as Saamraaj. There are two known cities in the Godspine Mountains, however no one knows how many Naga cities are in the Shadows Beneath.

Naga are serpentine folk, with the lower half of a large snake and the top half of a humanoid. They have two arms and snake-like heads. Naga warriors often fight with poisoned spears and glaives using their quick reflexes and speed to strike first and fast during combat. It is theorised that the naga were created by Gaia during The Ending. The naga did appear in the Godspine Mountains in 287 CE and began to war with the rajarasha. Due to the time difference between this first war and The Ending, historians think that the naga were created during The Ending as more foot soldiers for Gaia, who then travelled to Rajana and constructed cities in the Shadows Beneath, preparing for a later invasion. The naga, however, believe that they were created by the gorgons, who live on most continents of the world, coming from an original progenitor named Medusae. They venerate Medusae and all other gorgons, although whether their prayers go to Gaia or Medusae is unknown.

There are two Naga Saamraaj in the Godspine Mountains. To the north, Adhikan Yoddha rules over the city of Sainik Gadh. Yoddha constantly raids Apoikia and Darajana Vai, often ambushing hunters from Apoikia and war parties from Darajana Vai. Adhikan Yoddha is likely the most powerful ruler in Rajana, however his constant warring with Ceres Minos and Daraji and espionage with Sangas Katan to the south is blocking Yoddha from conquering all of Rajana. If he were to fight his enemies one by one, it is possible that he could conquer the whole of Rajana.

Yoddha is the most powerful ruler largely due to his great wealth and military. The mines beneath Sainik Gadh have an abundance of gold which is turned into jewellery and adornments for armour and so even lowly naga warriors will have ornately adorned armour and weapons. Aside from naga soldiers who are expert ambushers, duelists and archers, the army has a number of gorgons. Gorgons are giant female serpentine humanoids. Very similar to the naga, with the top half of a human and lower half of a snake. Gorgons are considered sacred to the naga and are showered with gold and worship. Gorgons in Yoddha’s army are often generals and leaders, and are equipped with the highest quality weapons and armour. Sainik Gadh is a sprawling metropolis, its buildings curved with many serpent motifs across them. They are often covered in vines hiding them against the mountains.

To the south of Sainik Gadh is the city of Shevan Gadh, ruled by Sangas Katan. Katan spends most of her resources warring with her rival, Shanjar the rajarasha talavar. When not personally dealing with her war with the rajarasha, Katan is pulling the strings of different groups across Rajana. A shadowy group of naga known as the Chipa Hua work for Katan. They are trained assassins, spies and mages, using spells to change their forms and infiltrate the rajarasha cities, Apoikia and even Sainik Gadh. They are used to assassinate prominent leaders, raid important buildings and pass important information back to Katan. Shevan Gadh is the complete opposite of Sainik Gadh. Instead of buildings hidden in vines sprawled in different directions, Shevan Gadh is an orderly city with regimented rows of housing, guard posts and walls. Fortified and secured against the rajarasha of Shanjara Vai.

Although it is dangerous for adventurers to travel in rajarasha territory it is still possible for them to become mercenaries. However, in the Naga Kingdoms adventurers will be attacked. The naga do not hire mercenaries and anyone venturing into the Godspine Mountains must expect to fight naga war groups.
