The Ending
The Ending
The empires of the Early Days would collapse in an apocalypse known as The Ending.
In Latys, Orcs and Goblins would rise up from the Shadows Beneath, having found the Krygen Drow and chasing them up to what is now known as the Kjellan Wilds.
In Yjellan a frigid winter and cold blast combined with an invasion of giants sent by Gaia would ruin the hardy raider kingdom, causing them to move south into Latys. The Imperrex and Drow were holding back the green tide however were overrun by the Yjellanders. The Drow fortified themselves in the east while the Imperrex retreated south to the coast. The tide of orcs and Yjellanders was stopped by an Imperrex necromancer named Magnate Zenobia. She unleashed a wave of necromantic magic, fuelling it with other mages and sacrifices. However, this powerful ritual was noticed by something not yet seen in this world. Demons. Demons from the Lands Down fed power into the ritual making it uncontainable and uncontrollable. The wave turned all of Zenobia’s followers into undead creatures. These undead would later form the Imperrex Necrossan.
The wave of necromantic death spread north across the continent, ruining the Yjellanders and Orcs and cursing the ground. The land would become known as Haudh’s Joy, as so many died and fed the god of death. In modern times it is known as the Kjellan Wilds due to the Kjellan Principalities who have had dominance over the land through their river raids and trade networks.
In the Heping, the empire of The Harmony dwelled. It stretched from the western coast into the Wieda Expanse of farmland in the centre of the continent. Its capital, Jin De, was far into the mainland. When The Ending struck The Harmony, its Golden Emperor was touring the western coastal cities at the time. Messengers brought word of great flying reptiles and reptilian men cutting a swathe of destruction from the centre of the Wieda Expanse. The Golden Emperor called his army together and declared a Righteous March to reclaim the capital and their lost lands. Every man of fighting age was called up, leaving only the young and old behind. As a precaution, Harmonic Magi created large stone guardians to protect the western coast until the army returned.
The Righteous March would not return. All that is known of what happened is that there was a large earthquake from within the Wieda Expanse and volcanoes spewed lava. This happened at the same time as Zenobia’s necromantic wave. The ground, now cracked and volcanic, became known as the Po Jia Expanse. The onslaught of dragons and dragonborn were stopped however, whether by the Righteous March or the natural disasters. Later through the ages, dragonborn would join The Harmony, with gold dragonborn being revered and many being placed as the Emperor’s personal guard.
The main assaults would be on the large empires in Latys, Heping and Old Yjellan however Gaia’s monsters would also attack other smaller nations. Small groups of raiding Yjellanders and orcs would attack the Freedlands, fighting the Steppens, and also the Pannan Forest. However these forces made little impact.
In the land of Abhir, Djinni and monsters such as sphinxes, ushabti, giant snakes and snake hydras would attack in smaller numbers
In the Southern Jungles, the Rajarasha kings would be attacked by Coatl, Atotolin (giant heron-like birds) and giant vine creatures.
