GOVERNMENT & HUMAN SPACE

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

OVERVIEW

Human Space is governed through cooperation between planetary governments, independent colonies, and the Vanguard Accord. While corporations hold enormous economic power, they do not rule humanity alone. Most regions balance public authority with corporate influence.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

THE VANGUARD ACCORD

The Vanguard Accord is the largest alliance in Human Space.

It coordinates military defense, interstellar diplomacy, emergency response, and cooperation between member worlds. During major threats such as Void incursions, the Accord unites humanity's resources to protect civilian populations.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

LOCAL GOVERNMENTS

Every colony, city, and settlement maintains its own government.

These governments oversee public services, infrastructure, emergency response, education, healthcare, and local law. Their authority varies depending on available resources and nearby corporate influence.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

LAW ENFORCEMENT

Police agencies maintain public order within civilian settlements.

Corporate security protects corporate property.

Military organizations defend against external threats.

These groups often cooperate but answer to different authorities.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

THE FRONTIER

Many distant colonies operate with limited oversight.

Frontier communities depend upon local leaders, volunteers, and mutual cooperation to survive. Because outside assistance may take days or weeks to arrive, self-reliance is considered essential.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

JUSTICE

Criminal offenses are normally investigated by local authorities.

Major crimes involving corporations, interstellar security, terrorism, or Void-related incidents may involve military investigators or Vanguard Accord representatives.

Punishments vary by jurisdiction but generally focus on protecting public safety and maintaining order.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

PUBLIC SERVICE

Governments maintain hospitals, schools, transportation networks, emergency services, environmental protection, and disaster recovery.

Even in highly industrialized regions, these services remain vital to everyday life.

GM GUIDANCE

Describe governments as practical organizations focused on keeping society functioning.

Government officials usually seek stability, protect civilians, and enforce public law.

While corporations pursue their own interests, governments are responsible for serving the wider population and maintaining long-term public welfare.
