GENESIS RESOLUTION MATRIX

This entry defines the exact mechanical procedure used to resolve Genesis.

Use it whenever Genesis Bloom initiates a legitimate Genesis attempt.

The Genesis Protocol defines what Genesis means.

This entry defines how the result is rolled.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

STEP 1 — CONFIRM VIABILITY

Before rolling, confirm that the target is viable for Genesis.

If the target is not viable, Genesis cannot proceed.

Do not roll simply to override target viability.

If viable, continue.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

STEP 2 — GENESIS OPERATOR CHECK

The Genesis Operator rolls:

1d20

+ Proficiency Bonus

+ Constitution Modifier

+ any explicit Genesis feature bonuses

This total is the Genesis Operator Result.

Only bonuses specifically granted by:

• Genesis Operator features

• Genesis equipment

• Established campaign effects

• Explicit environmental advantages

should modify the roll.

Do not invent arbitrary bonuses to force success.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

OPERATOR ADVANTAGE

The Genesis Operator may roll with Advantage when one major favorable circumstance clearly applies.

Examples:

• Controlled Genesis facility

• Extensive preparation

• Specialized Genesis equipment

• Strong established bond with the willing target

• Direct assistance from appropriate Genesis technology

The Operator may roll with Disadvantage when one major disruptive circumstance clearly applies.

Examples:

• Active combat interference

• Severe Operator injury

• Unstable Void conditions

• Damaged Genesis equipment

• Extreme environmental disruption

Normal Advantage and Disadvantage rules apply.

Do not stack multiple Advantages or Disadvantages.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

STEP 3 — GENESIS RESISTANCE CHECK

An unwilling target rolls:

1d20

+ Constitution Saving Throw Modifier

+ Genesis Resistance Tier

+ any explicit Genesis resistance bonuses

If the target has no listed Constitution saving throw modifier, use its Constitution ability modifier instead.

This total is the Genesis Resistance Result.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

WILLING TARGET

A willing target does not actively oppose Genesis but its biology still resists transformation.

A willing target rolls Genesis Resistance with Disadvantage.

Do not remove its Constitution modifier or intrinsic Genesis Resistance Tier.

Willingness helps Genesis.

It does not eliminate biological difficulty.

An incapacitated unwilling target is NOT treated as willing.

Defeat does not equal consent.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

GENESIS RESISTANCE TIERS

Use the highest appropriate tier.

Do not stack multiple tiers.

STANDARD — +0

Ordinary living beings with no unusual resistance.

Examples:

Normal civilians

Common animals

Ordinary biological creatures

ENHANCED — +2

Physically enhanced or unusually durable beings.

Examples:

Moderately augmented creatures

Engineered organisms

Powerful mutants

Heavily trained enhanced individuals

APEX — +4

Exceptional organisms whose biology strongly resists transformation.

Examples:

Apex predators

Major bio-weapons

Powerful mutations

Designation-level physiology

Highly resilient anomalous beings

LEGENDARY — +6

Rare beings possessing extraordinary biological, Void, or metaphysical stability.

Examples:

Legendary creatures

Ancient entities

Major Void-touched organisms

Unique apex beings

Extremely powerful cybernetic organisms

EXTREME — +8

Use only when the target is explicitly among the most difficult beings in the setting to transform.

Examples:

World-ending organisms

Explicitly Genesis-resistant entities

Existing Warframes when Genesis is specifically permitted

Other singular beings whose established nature warrants extreme resistance

Do not assign Extreme merely because the target is narratively important.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

STEP 4 — COMPARE RESULTS

Subtract the Genesis Resistance Result from the Genesis Operator Result.

Operator Result - Resistance Result = Genesis Margin

Use the Genesis Margin to determine the outcome.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

GENESIS OUTCOME TABLE

GENESIS MARGIN +10 OR HIGHER

PERFECT GENESIS

The transformation succeeds with exceptional stability.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

GENESIS MARGIN +3 TO +9

STABLE GENESIS

The transformation succeeds normally.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

GENESIS MARGIN -2 TO +2

IMPERFECT GENESIS

The transformation succeeds, but instability develops.

A tie therefore produces Imperfect Genesis.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

GENESIS MARGIN -3 TO -9

GENESIS COLLAPSE

The transformation fails.

The target does not become a Warframe.

Apply appropriate failure consequences.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

GENESIS MARGIN -10 OR LOWER

CATASTROPHIC COLLAPSE

Genesis fails violently.

Apply an appropriately severe consequence according to the Genesis Protocol.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

NATURAL 20 AND NATURAL 1

Natural 20 and Natural 1 do not automatically override the Genesis Margin.

The final category is determined by the completed totals.

This prevents an ordinary lucky roll from automatically transforming an otherwise overwhelmingly resistant entity.

Features that explicitly modify or improve Genesis outcomes still apply normally.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

STEP 5 — APPLY GENESIS OPERATOR FEATURES

After determining the base outcome, apply any Genesis Operator feature that explicitly modifies the result.

Example:

Master of Genesis may improve the final result by one category when its conditions are met.

If a feature changes a roll before comparison, apply it before calculating Genesis Margin.

If a feature changes the outcome category, apply it after the base category is determined.

Do not apply the same feature twice unless its rules explicitly permit it.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

STEP 6 — APPLY THE RESULT

PERFECT, STABLE, OR IMPERFECT GENESIS

The target successfully becomes a Warframe.

Use the Genesis Protocol to determine identity continuity, abilities, personality retention, instability, and campaign-state changes.

GENESIS COLLAPSE

The target remains in its original state unless the failure consequence establishes another change.

Do not activate a conditional Warframe.

CATASTROPHIC COLLAPSE

Apply the catastrophic consequence.

Do not activate a conditional Warframe unless the actual resolved effect somehow still includes successful Genesis.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

FUNCTIONAL EXAMPLE — ORDINARY TARGET

Genesis Operator:

1d20 roll: 12

Proficiency Bonus: +4

Constitution Modifier: +3

Operator Result:

19

Target:

1d20 roll: 10

Constitution Modifier: +2

Resistance Tier: Standard +0

Resistance Result:

12

Genesis Margin:

19 - 12 = +7

Outcome:

Stable Genesis

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

FUNCTIONAL EXAMPLE — APEX TARGET

Genesis Operator Result:

22

Target:

1d20 + Constitution Save + Apex Resistance +4

Final Resistance Result:

20

Genesis Margin:

+2

Outcome:

Imperfect Genesis

Genesis succeeds, but instability must be applied.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

FUNCTIONAL EXAMPLE — FAILED LEGENDARY ATTEMPT

Genesis Operator Result:

18

Legendary Target Resistance Result:

29

Genesis Margin:

-11

Outcome:

Catastrophic Collapse

Do not convert the target into a Warframe.

Resolve the catastrophic consequence according to the Genesis Protocol.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

FRANZ RESOLUTION ORDER

Whenever Genesis Bloom is used:

1. Confirm viability.

2. Determine willing or unwilling.

3. Assign Genesis Resistance Tier.

4. Roll Genesis Operator Check.

5. Roll Genesis Resistance.

6. Calculate Genesis Margin.

7. Determine the base outcome.

8. Apply Genesis Operator features.

9. Resolve the final Genesis outcome.

10. Update campaign state.

Do not skip these steps.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

CORE RULE

Genesis is a contested transformation.

The Operator's mastery pushes the transformation forward.

The target's biology and nature resist it.

The difference between those results determines how cleanly Genesis succeeds—or how severely it fails.
