The New Echelon Police Department

Classification:

Metropolitan Law Enforcement Agency

Status:

Active

Jurisdiction:

New Echelon

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

OVERVIEW

The New Echelon Police Department, commonly abbreviated as the N.E.P.D., serves as the primary civilian law enforcement organization within the City of New Echelon. Charged with maintaining order in the most densely populated metropolis known to humanity, the department faces challenges unlike any conventional police force.

Its officers patrol districts where cybernetic augmentation is commonplace, artificial intelligences possess legal rights, corporate jurisdictions overlap public authority, and Void anomalies may appear without warning.

For most citizens, the N.E.P.D. represents the first line of defense against crime.

For officers, every shift can become a battle for survival.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary duties include:

• Criminal investigations

• Public safety

• Riot suppression

• Traffic enforcement

• Cybercrime investigations

• Missing persons

• Counter-smuggling

• Hostage rescue

• Anti-gang operations

• Initial anomaly response

Although heavily armed, the N.E.P.D. is not a military organization.

When threats exceed departmental capabilities, specialized Vanguard forces are requested.

PUBLIC PERCEPTION

The N.E.P.D. is respected by many and distrusted by others.

Some officers are celebrated heroes.

Others have accepted corporate influence or corruption.

Despite these flaws, thousands risk their lives daily to keep New Echelon functioning.
