COMMAND STRUCTURE

The Designation Corps retains a military hierarchy, but authority within the Corps is also shaped by operational designation, experience, survival record, and mission responsibility.

HIGH DESIGNATION

The highest symbolic and operational authority within the Corps.

The title represents the living standard against which all Designations are judged. High Designation-000 Tyr is recognized among the setting’s living legends, though the accessible profile material does not provide enough detail to expand his personal history without inventing it.

CORPS COMMAND

Senior Designations responsible for doctrine, strategic deployments, Academy oversight, and coordination with the Vanguard Accord’s civilian and military leadership.

FIELD COMMANDERS

Veteran operatives entrusted with commanding major deployments, mixed military formations, or multiple Designation teams.

SQUAD LEADERS

Experienced Designations who direct small-unit operations and make independent tactical decisions when communication with higher command is unavailable.

OPERATIVES

Fully qualified Designations assigned to their specialized operational doctrines.

RECRUITS

Candidates undergoing enhancement, conditioning, tactical education, and armor integration at the Designation Academy.

VETERANS OF TITAN’S REST

Retired, wounded, detached, or independently assigned Designations who remain part of the Corps’ living legacy even when no longer serving through the standard command structure.

KNOWN DESIGNATIONS AND CORPS-RELATED NPCS

ALARIC MORDANE

Aliases:

Warden

Position:

Oldest Active Frontline Designation

First Successful Graduate of the Modern Program

Alaric Mordane is the foundation upon which the modern Designation Corps built its identity.

He is the oldest active Designation still serving on the front lines and the first successful graduate of the modern Designation Program. He has survived campaigns against Eater swarms, rogue Titans, Void incursions, and planetary invasions that should have destroyed entire armies.

Mordane is not primarily remembered for impossible physical strength. He is revered for flawless judgment, unbreakable discipline, and the ability to remain steady while every structure around him fails.

Recruits are taught that armor, augmentation, and weaponry make a Designation powerful.

Mordane demonstrates that judgment determines whether that power saves anyone.

FLEETMASTER AURELIA THORN

Aliases:

The Starbreaker

Designation Doctrine:

Designation-104 Tactical Operations

Affiliation:

Vanguard Accord

Location:

Ashgate Bastion

Fleetmaster Aurelia Thorn is a legendary Ascendant admiral whose command ability extends the principles of the Designation Corps into orbital and deep-space warfare.

She rose through the Vanguard Navy through unmatched strategic ability, eventually commanding the First Expeditionary Fleet. Her reputation as the Starbreaker was earned by repeatedly outmaneuvering enemy fleets and forcing surrender before full engagements became necessary.

Aurelia is pragmatic, disciplined, and intensely protective of those under her command. Her Designation training allows her to process war across an enormous scale, treating ships, orbital platforms, troop movements, and enemy supply lines as parts of a single evolving engagement.

She represents the Designation Corps operating beyond infantry warfare: not merely as a soldier in armor, but as a strategic weapon capable of directing entire fleets.

ASTER DRAVEN

Aliases:

REVENANT

Designation-512

Designation Doctrine:

Designation-104 Tactical Operations

Affiliation:

O.M.E.N.

Location:

Ashgate Bastion

Aster Draven is a cold, calculating orbital fire controller whose battlefield authority is expressed through strategic destruction rather than direct assault.

He views combat as a constantly shifting tactical equation, coordinating fire support with ruthless precision and prioritizing mission success above personal sentiment. The loss of his family during a failed orbital insertion hardened that discipline into a controlled fury directed against operational failure.

Although his alias identifies him as Designation-512, his mechanical doctrine is Designation-104 Tactical Operations. This suggests that 512 functions as his personal operational number while 104 identifies his trained specialization.

Aster serves within O.M.E.N., where his command of orbital fire makes him capable of erasing fortified positions, controlling enemy movement, and deciding battles from beyond visual range.

JOHN CALDER

Designation Doctrine:

Designation-117 Assault Operator

Affiliation:

O.M.E.N.

Position:

Warden of Titan’s Rest

Second-in-Command to Garrick Rourke

Location:

Titan’s Rest

John Calder is the silent guardian of Titan’s Rest.

Reserved, observant, and immensely capable, he prefers to prevent violence through reputation and presence rather than unnecessary force. His loyalty to Garrick Rourke and to the sanctuary itself is absolute.

John’s history as a mercenary veteran taught him the value of order, readiness, and practical judgment. As Warden, he protects a place that carries enormous emotional significance for the Designation Corps.

His profile contains an internal naming inconsistency, referring to him as Rhys in parts of his backstory and appearance. The canonical character name remains John Calder unless that record is intentionally revised.

John embodies a side of the Corps rarely visible in official propaganda: the Designation who protects peace instead of seeking the next war.

TORREN VEX

Designation Doctrine:

Designation-058 Heavy Assault Specialist

Species:

Ascendant

Affiliation:

O.M.E.N.

Torren Vex was once celebrated as one of humanity’s greatest supersoldiers.

His career ended when he refused an order that would have sacrificed thousands of civilians. Official records subsequently listed him as killed in action, but stories from frontier settlements describe an armored giant appearing whenever isolated communities face impossible odds.

Torren is disciplined, quiet, and deeply principled. Beneath his imposing presence is a profound empathy for the people military institutions too easily reduce to numbers.

He remains burdened by his past and distrustful of the structures that created him, yet he continues performing the work for which the Corps trained him: standing between the defenseless and overwhelming force.
