ACCORD PROVING GROUNDS — PART II: CONVERGENCE DOCTRINE
CULTURAL FRICTION
Relations between the Tenno and Designation Corps are generally respectful but rarely effortless.
Designation culture places enormous value on preparation, responsibility to the unit, operational discipline, and accomplishing objectives through coordinated action.
Tenno culture developed through radically different experiences. Operators wield powers that cannot always be reduced to conventional military doctrine, and their relationships with Warframes and the Void create perspectives that even heavily augmented soldiers may struggle to understand.
Designations sometimes consider Tenno unpredictable.
Tenno sometimes consider Designations excessively rigid.
Both accusations occasionally prove correct.
Disagreements over command authority, acceptable risk, extraction priorities, collateral damage, battlefield improvisation, and the use of extraordinary abilities are common enough that Vanguard mediators remain an important part of the program.
Yet prolonged joint deployments have produced something institutional agreements could not manufacture.
Friendships.
Designations and Tenno who survive together frequently request one another for later deployments. Some develop informal combat signals understood only by their team. Others exchange equipment, techniques, stories, or traditions from their respective institutions.
A Designation who has fought beside the same Operator repeatedly may learn to recognize a Warframe's movements before an ability is used.
An Operator may learn the exact moment their Designation partner intends to advance without hearing an order.
Those relationships are among the most closely studied—and least reproducible—outcomes of the program.
THE LIAISON STRUCTURE
Several established figures have become important to cooperation between the institutions.
Alaric Mordane, Designation-001 WARDEN, represents the experience and institutional memory of the modern Designation Corps. His involvement helps ensure that joint doctrine never treats Designations merely as conventional infantry accompanying Warframes.
Haden Tenno represents a particularly effective bridge from the Operator side. His disciplined and strategic approach to combat allows him to communicate with Designation personnel in terms they immediately understand without reducing Tenno warfare to conventional doctrine.
Lyra Shaw and O.M.E.N. provide another critical connection. Joint tactics developed safely on a training range have little value if they collapse when confronted by genuine anomalous threats. O.M.E.N.'s operational experience helps determine which experimental doctrines are suitable for deployment.
The Lotus, also known as the Matron, remains an important authority in the broader relationship between the Tenno and their allies. Cooperation with the Vanguard Accord does not erase Tenno independence, and the Proving Grounds operate with that understanding.
CONVERGENCE DOCTRINE
The tactics developed at the Grounds have collectively become known as Convergence Doctrine.
Convergence Doctrine is not a standardized combat style.
It is a framework for combining capabilities that were never originally designed to coexist.
Designation forces provide disciplined positioning, sustained firepower, tactical command, heavy weapons, objective control, and reliable battlefield structure.
Tenno provide extreme mobility, Warframe abilities, Void interaction, rapid disruption, unconventional attack vectors, and solutions to threats that ignore conventional assumptions.
Neither element is automatically subordinate to the other.
Command responsibility depends on the operation.
A conventional military engagement may place a Designation commander in tactical control while Tenno operate as specialized assets within the plan. A Void anomaly may require an Operator to direct the response while Designations establish containment and protect the team from conventional threats.
The system depends upon recognizing expertise rather than defending institutional pride.
It works remarkably well when everyone involved accepts that principle.
WHEN COOPERATION BECOMES DANGEROUS
The greatest concern surrounding the Accord Proving Grounds is not that cooperation will fail.
It is that cooperation may succeed in ways nobody understands.
Designation augmentations represent some of the most extreme deliberate modifications that can be imposed upon a living soldier.
Warframes represent an entirely different form of transformed existence.
Operators interact with forces capable of altering biology, matter, consciousness, and phenomena that conventional science cannot always describe adequately.
The two systems were never developed with one another in mind.
Nobody knows every possible interaction between them.
Secure laboratories beneath Convergence Hall therefore study unusual responses involving Designation physiology, Warframe systems, Operator abilities, Void exposure, and other anomalous effects encountered during joint operations.
The research is defensive in purpose.
Vanguard command does not officially maintain the Grounds to manufacture hybrid soldiers or deliberately combine Tenno and Designation transformation systems.
The distinction matters.
Both institutions contain people, not raw materials for experimentation.
The reinforced medical wards beneath Convergence Hall exist because accidental interactions remain possible regardless.
A DIFFERENT KIND OF ALLIANCE
The Accord Proving Grounds were never intended to merge the Tenno and Designation Corps.
Their differences are considered strategically valuable.
Designation doctrine provides structure where extraordinary circumstances threaten to produce chaos.
Tenno provide answers when structure alone is insufficient.
The Vanguard Accord provides the framework through which both can operate without requiring one to become subordinate to the other.
As threats involving the Void, anomalous organisms, hostile civilizations, reality fractures, and extinction-level entities continue to emerge, mixed deployments have become increasingly difficult to dismiss as experimental.
Some within Vanguard command believe permanent Tenno-Designation response teams are inevitable.
Others remain cautious.
There are combinations of abilities, technologies, augmentations, and metaphysical forces represented by the two institutions that have never been tested together.
The possibility that one could fundamentally alter the other remains one of the quietest concerns surrounding the program.
For now, the Accord Proving Grounds remain what they were created to be:
