THE VOID
OVERVIEW
The Void is the central phenomenon responsible for the existence of SINK. It is not ordinary empty space, a conventional dimension, or a single alternate universe. It is a reality-spanning medium that exists between timelines, dimensions, universes, and possible histories. The Void can weaken, cross, merge, distort, preserve, or destroy the boundaries separating realities.
Through events known as Convergences, the Void has drawn entire planets, cities, fleets, species, technologies, and civilizations from separate realities into the same universe. This is why groups with incompatible histories can coexist without either history being false. Their original worlds and pasts remain real. The Void brought them together after those histories had already occurred.
The Void is not fully understood. Scientific institutions, religious movements, artificial intelligences, ancient civilizations, and Void-adapted individuals interpret it differently. Some consider it a natural layer of existence. Others believe it is alive, intelligent, or responsive to consciousness. No interpretation has been universally proven.
VOID CONVERGENCES
A Convergence occurs when the barrier between realities becomes unstable. Small Convergences may displace a person, object, room, or vehicle. Larger events can relocate cities, armies, planets, star systems, or entire regions of space.
Not every displaced subject arrives intact. Some are altered during passage. Biological organisms
