Text 3

The Void is the single most important phenomenon in SINK and the accepted explanation for the convergence of civilizations, species, technologies, and realities. It is neither a place nor a living being, but a dimension existing outside conventional space-time. It surrounds every universe simultaneously and occasionally weakens the barriers separating them.

Void Breaches occur unpredictably. These events may transport individuals, cities, planets, fleets, or entire civilizations into SINK. Some arrivals appear intact while others arrive damaged, displaced through time, or permanently altered by exposure.

The Void cannot be fully controlled. Numerous factions attempt to study or exploit it, but every experiment carries significant risk. Exposure may alter biology, corrupt artificial intelligence, distort memories, rewrite local physics, create anomalies, or awaken dormant technologies.

Despite its dangers, the Void has accelerated scientific progress. Many of the galaxy's greatest discoveries originated from recovered Void technology. It also remains the greatest unsolved mystery in known existence. No civilization has discovered its origin, purpose, or limits.
