The Isle of Giants

Everyone in Skógdalr has heard of the Isle of Giants. The vast island lies off the coast, large enough to be clearly visible from parts of the mainland, with dark forests, steep mountains and the ruins of an ancient fortress rising above its shores.

Stories claim that giants once ruled the island, living among its mountains long before the oldest villages of Skógdalr were founded. Some believe they disappeared centuries ago, while others insist they merely withdrew into the island's remote interior.

Tales of enormous footprints, distant fires and figures moving along the mountain ridges have circulated for generations. Most people have never visited the island themselves, yet almost everyone knows the old warning:

“If you hear the giants calling, do not call back.”

Mystery Hook — The Bells of the Fortress

The ruined fortress on the Isle of Giants has stood silent for longer than anyone can remember.

Then, one morning, a deep bell sounds across the sea.

The noise is so powerful that people along the mainland coast hear it clearly.

One toll.

Then another.

Then a third.

For the next six nights, the bell rings once shortly before midnight.

On the seventh night, it does not ring.

Instead, people watching from the mainland see hundreds of small lights moving down from the fortress toward the island's shore.
