The Crown's Legal Reform Proposal

Under Thomas Langton’s guidance, the boy-king Liam has begun a an active role in his own regency. A sweeping review of Thelidor’s rural justice systems was conducted, many of which still operate under fractured, feudal codes. Drawing from Velorian legal structures—known for their clarity, layered appeals, and temple oversight—Thomas Langton has helped draft a series of reforms aimed at unifying court procedures, standardizing punishments, and creating traveling magistrates to serve remote regions. The reforms have been met with mixed reactions: commoners and soldiers praise the fairness and accessibility, while nobles grumble at the erosion of local autonomy. Caelthorn calls it overreach, Halebrandt questions its enforceability, and Durnmere suspects Velorian influence in every clause. Liam, however, has stood firm, citing the need for a kingdom that serves all its people—not just its banners. Thomas’s quiet presence at Liam’s side during these declarations has not gone unnoticed, and some whisper that the chancellor’s pen may be mightier than any sword in Delia.
