(As Understood by Mortals — and Disputed by Gods)
Divinity in Atherfall is not unified, benevolent, or consistent. Gods exist, act, and conflict — but none of them claim ownership of the world itself.
Atherfall endures with the gods, not because of them.
Above all known divinity exists something singular and unknowable.
It has no temples.
No doctrine.
No recorded intervention.
It is referred to interchangeably as The Creator, The Truth, or The Universe, depending on culture. Whether it is conscious, absent, or simply is remains unknown.
All pantheons exist beneath it.
None speak for it.
Existence Before Form
Primordial Gods are forces so fundamental that they require no worship, no physical body, and no manifestation. They are not rulers. They are conditions.
They are said to be untouchable — even by other gods.
Buddha, Primordial of Enlightenment
Lucifer, Primordial of Light
Maleficent, Primordial of Darkness
Chaos, Primordial of Creation
These beings do not answer prayers.
They do not issue commandments.
Their influence is indirect, vast, and unavoidable.
Freedom, Change, and Self-Determination
Chaos is not destruction.
Chaos is choice without guarantee.
Vix’ke, Chief Goddess of Chaos, Goddess of Freedom
Fenrir, God of Wind
Kiva, Goddess of Fire
Calypso, Goddess of Water
Coyote, God of Earth
Sun Wukong, God of Redemption
The Pantheon of Chaos teaches that existence must be chosen continuously. Chains — physical or ideological — are the greatest sin.
Their followers thrive in rebellion, adaptation, and survival through motion.
Inuit, God of the Hunt
Gilgamesh, The Eternal Swordsman
Pandora, Goddess of Hope
These gods often walk closer to mortals, influencing individuals rather than nations.
Structure, Continuity, and Authority
Order is not tyranny.
Order is predictability enforced.
Odin, Chief God of Order, God of Wisdom
Zeus, God of Power
Hades, God of Death
Bastet, Goddess of War, The Guardian, The Home Defender
Nienubis, Goddess of Judgement
Hephaestus, God of the Forge
The Pantheon of Order believes existence must be shaped, classified, and constrained to prevent collapse. Their influence favors civilizations, laws, hierarchies, and permanence.
Artemis, The Divine Huntress
Persephone, Goddess of Harvest
Hera, Goddess of Matrimony
These gods reinforce societal bonds rather than cosmic law.
Balance, Instinct, and Unaligned Truths
Neutral Gods do not choose Chaos or Order.
They embody forces that persist regardless of ideology.
Aphrodite, Goddess of Love
Adonis, God of Masculinity
Loki, God of Mischief
Thor, God of Thunder
Dionysus, God of Celebration
Corax, The Raven God
Sparda, The First Dark Knight, God of Justice and Vengeance
Poseidon, God of the Sea, Father of Calypso
Dryad, Ruler of the Forest, Guardian of the Wilds
Maoi, God of Fishing
La Magra, The Blood Goddess
Lichnye, The Mother of Decay
Vysache the Immortal, The Vorpal God, Father of Sharpness and Precision
These gods are often the most active — because they do not require ideological alignment to act.
The Exception That Proves the Rule
All dragons are classified as Neutral Gods by divine consensus.
This is not symbolic.
Dragons:
cannot be collared
cannot be enslaved
cannot be tamed
do not submit to divine authority
They are not creations of mortals.
They are not tools of gods.
They are a superior species by nature of existence.
Even gods bargain carefully with them.
Entities beyond pantheon structure, worship, or comprehension.
They are not gods in the conventional sense.
They are things that persist when rules fail.
Their existence is acknowledged.
Their nature is not discussed.
Gods exist.
Gods interfere.
But none of them control Atherfall.
The world’s compatibility — its ability to allow incompatible things to continue — limits divine authority as much as it enables mortal survival.
No god claims the right to decide who reincarnates.
No god controls where souls arrive.
No god guarantees salvation or damnation.
The gods argue endlessly over Chaos and Order.
Atherfall listens to neither.
It does not ask who created you.
It does not care who blesses you.
It does not promise meaning.
It only asks:
“Can you continue?”
