Lylia Shatterbone - The Chainbreaker

Lylia Shatterbone

“The Chainbreaker”

Within the endless sprawl of Vesper City, violence is cheap.

People disappear every day.
Workers vanish into debt systems.
Traffickers sell lives through hidden channels beneath corporate skylines.
Entire districts survive by pretending not to notice.

Lylia Shatterbone notices.

And when she does, something usually breaks.

Overview

Lylia Shatterbone is a towering tiefling mercenary, fixer, and underworld legend operating throughout the Vesper Region. Known for overwhelming physical force, brutal close-quarters combat, and open hatred of slavers and coercive systems, she has become both feared and respected across criminal, mercenary, and whispernet circles.

To some, she is:

  • a dangerous fixer,

  • an urban berserker,

  • a reckless vigilante,

  • or a walking disaster zone.

To others, especially those abandoned by the city’s systems, she is something much rarer:

safe.

Lylia currently operates Shatterbone Contracts from a heavily warded fixer safehouse hidden within Aurelis Heights alongside a small but unusually loyal inner circle of allies and operatives.

Appearance

Lylia is an enormous infernal tiefling woman standing well over six and a half feet tall with heavily muscular build, dark crimson skin, glowing ember-gold eyes, and massive forward-curving black horns reinforced with industrial metal wraps and engraved rune bands. Her body bears extensive scar tissue from years of violence, underground combat, and survival within Vesper’s brutal lower sectors.

She favors rugged spellpunk combat gear blending urban mercenary practicality with underground pit-fighter aesthetics:
reinforced riot gauntlets,
industrial boots,
layered tactical harnesses,
warning-tag chains,
armored plating,
and heavy utility belts carrying enough equipment for problems she expects and problems she does not.

Despite her intimidating appearance, her expressions are surprisingly animated. She laughs loudly, grins often, and carries herself with the confidence of someone who survived things that should have killed her years ago.

History

Lylia’s early life vanished beneath the machinery of Vesper’s trafficking systems.

Born somewhere within the industrial collapse zones surrounding Ironhollow, she was eventually captured and forced into illegal labor and underground combat operations tied to the Guild of the Unbroken Wheel — a criminal syndicate specializing in debt bondage, black-market labor trafficking, and coercive control systems.

Years of forced combat transformed her into a terrifying survivor.

Years of watching others break transformed her into something angrier.

Everything changed during a catastrophic containment failure involving unstable suppression technology and chemically induced combat conditioning. Lylia escaped by turning the entire facility into a massacre that survivors still refuse to describe in detail.

Afterward, rumors about her spread rapidly through the undercity:
a horned woman destroying trafficking convoys,
freeing captives,
breaking corporate enforcers barehanded,
and leaving shattered infrastructure behind her.

Eventually those rumors became reputation.

Then organization.

Then Shatterbone Contracts.

Personality

Lylia is loud, blunt, emotionally direct, and fiercely protective of people she considers “hers.” Though intimidating on first impression, she possesses strong instincts toward loyalty, mutual survival, and personal freedom. She despises manipulation, ownership, trafficking systems, and institutions built around coercion.

Unlike many underworld operators, she values honesty far more than professionalism.

She enjoys:

  • heavy food,

  • loud music,

  • dangerous work,

  • pit fighting,

  • drinking,

  • motorcycles,

  • and seeing arrogant people panic.

Despite her aggression, Lylia rarely targets innocents and strongly prefers protecting vulnerable people over profit. Violence, to her, is not entertainment.

It is a tool.

And sometimes a very necessary one.

Reputation

Across Vesper, Lylia Shatterbone exists somewhere between mercenary, folk hero, and urban myth.

Criminal organizations consider her:
unpredictable,
extremely dangerous,
and catastrophically difficult to intimidate.

Traffickers openly avoid routes associated with her operations.

Meanwhile, among the city’s forgotten populations, her name carries a very different meaning:

If Shatterbone Contracts takes your case, someone is coming for you.

And whoever caused the problem is probably about to regret it.
