Relics

Relics

Relics are not products.

They are remnants of lost ages, forgotten civilizations, primordial entities, collapsed realities, divine catastrophes, and pre-industrial magical eras that existed long before modern arcane capitalism. Unlike modern magitech, relics are poorly understood, difficult to replicate, and often fundamentally incompatible with civilized reality.

Corporations covet them.

Governments fear them.

Entire wars have started over single relic recoveries.

1. The Ember Crown

Legendary Relic

A cracked bronze crown perpetually warm to the touch, recovered from a city buried beneath volcanic glass.

Effects:

  • Grants immunity to fire damage.

  • Allows manipulation of flames on a massive scale.

  • Nearby fires instinctively bend toward the wearer.

Consequences:
The wearer slowly develops obsessive territorial instincts.

2. The Hollow Bell

Legendary Relic

An ancient black iron bell that produces no audible sound when struck.

Effects:

  • Its resonance suppresses spirits, summons, and incorporeal entities.

  • Can disrupt magical rituals across enormous distances.

  • Certain dimensional fractures temporarily stabilize near it.

Consequences:
Everyone nearby experiences temporary emotional numbness.

3. Saint Eclipsa’s Lantern

Very Rare Relic

A silver lantern burning with pale blue flame despite lacking fuel.

Effects:

  • Reveals invisible entities and hidden pathways.

  • Weakens illusion magic.

  • The flame brightens near lies, curses, or supernatural corruption.

Consequences:
Shadow-sensitive creatures react violently to its presence.

4. The Choir Mask

Artifact Relic

A smooth porcelain mask recovered from a sealed underground cathedral.

Effects:

  • Allows the wearer to hear nearby thoughts as layered whispers.

  • Can command weak-minded creatures through spoken resonance.

  • Grants supernatural social influence.

Consequences:
The mask slowly merges emotionally with its wearer.
Some users forget where their own thoughts end.

5. The Last Compass

Legendary Relic

An ornate brass compass whose needle points toward “significance” rather than north.

Effects:

  • Guides users toward powerful events, anomalies, or opportunities.

  • Reveals hidden routes through dangerous areas.

  • Occasionally predicts approaching disasters.

Consequences:
The compass often leads directly into catastrophe.

6. The Pale Archive

Artifact Relic

A living crystalline tablet containing impossible quantities of knowledge.

Effects:

  • Instantly grants understanding of unknown languages and systems.

  • Can answer nearly any factual question.

  • Continuously updates itself with newly learned information.

Consequences:
Excessive use overloads the mind with foreign memories and identities.

7. The Gravewater Blade

Legendary Relic Weapon

A blackened sword constantly dripping cold spectral liquid.

Effects:

  • Deals devastating necrotic damage.

  • Wounds inflicted heal extremely slowly.

  • Spirits destroyed by the blade cannot reform naturally.

Consequences:
The wielder gradually loses sensitivity to death and suffering.

8. The Sleeping Gate Key

Artifact Relic

A geometric metallic object that shifts shape when observed indirectly.

Effects:

  • Opens sealed dimensional barriers.

  • Can unlock locations that should not physically exist.

  • Occasionally reacts to invisible structures in reality.

Consequences:
Using the Key attracts the attention of unknown interdimensional entities.

9. The Ash Saint Engine

Artifact Relic

A massive ancient machine core recovered from beneath a ruined megastructure.

Effects:

  • Produces nearly limitless thaumic energy.

  • Can power entire districts independently.

  • Reactivates nearby dormant magical systems automatically.

Consequences:
Reality distortions intensify around prolonged operation.

Entire cities have fought over ownership of the Engine.

10. The Throne Beneath Static

Mythic Relic

An impossible object described differently by every witness.

Effects:

  • Grants overwhelming influence over magical infrastructure.

  • Can reshape local reality through intent alone.

  • Certain systems, spirits, and constructs instinctively obey its authority.

Consequences:
No known individual has retained their original identity after prolonged exposure.

Some theorists believe the Throne is not an object at all, but a dormant intelligence embedded within the Weave itself.
