Spellware

Spellware

Spellware refers to artificial magical augmentation integrated directly into the body, soul, or nervous system. Unlike conventional cybernetics, spellware manipulates a person’s metaphysical resonance through implanted sigils, bio-thaumic grafts, synthetic mana channels, and arcane surgical modification.

Spellware is expensive, addictive to some personalities, and deeply tied to identity in SPELLRUN society.

1. Ghoststep Tendons

Rare Spellware

Rune-laced synthetic tendon replacements installed into the legs.

Effects:

  • Movement speed increases by 10 feet.

  • Gain advantage on Acrobatics checks.

  • Once per short rest, opportunity attacks against you are made with disadvantage.

Users often develop unnaturally silent movement patterns.

2. ArcSight Ocular Suite

Rare Spellware

A pair of artificial arcane eyes capable of perceiving magical resonance layers.

Effects:

  • Grants darkvision.

  • Detect Magic can be activated at will.

  • Highlights active wards, enchantments, and magical residue.

Extended use can cause visual overstimulation in dense urban districts.

3. Mnemonic Lattice Implant

Very Rare Spellware

A crystalline neural implant enhancing memory storage and recall.

Effects:

  • Gain advantage on Intelligence checks involving recall.

  • Cannot forget memorized information naturally.

  • Once per long rest, instantly recall any previously seen text or image.

Illegal black-market variants can forcibly store stolen memories.

4. Pulseweave Reflex Spine

Very Rare Spellware

A surgically embedded spinal lattice synchronizing the nervous system with arcflow fluctuations.

Effects:

  • Gain advantage on Dexterity saving throws.

  • Add bonus initiative equal to proficiency bonus.

  • Once per combat, immediately move up to half your speed without provoking attacks.

Users often develop twitch-like predictive reflexes.

5. Resonance Lungs

Rare Spellware

Artificial lungs lined with mana-reactive filtration sigils.

Effects:

  • Immunity to most airborne toxins and magical pollutants.

  • Hold breath up to 30 minutes.

  • Can exhale concentrated arcane vapor once per short rest, lightly obscuring an area.

Popular in industrial undercity populations.

6. Hexweave Skin

Very Rare Spellware

A subdermal network of reactive protective sigils.

Effects:

  • Grants resistance to force damage.

  • Armor Class increases while unarmored.

  • Briefly emits glowing ward-patterns under stress.

Security scanners can often identify implanted users instantly.

7. Echoheart Regulator

Rare Spellware

A thaumic heart augmentation stabilizing emotional and magical overload.

Effects:

  • Advantage against fear and charm effects.

  • Reduces exhaustion gained from magical strain.

  • Automatically stabilizes the user at 0 hit points once per long rest.

Emotionally suppressive side effects are common.

8. Spectral Interface Jack

Uncommon Spellware

A cranial port allowing direct interaction with magical systems.

Effects:

  • Instantly connect to compatible arc-tech systems.

  • Grants advantage on Arcana checks involving infrastructure or devices.

  • Can silently exchange encrypted data with linked systems.

Hackers and technomancers heavily favor modified versions.

9. Gravimetric Anchor Bones

Very Rare Spellware

Dense rune-infused skeletal reinforcements designed for high-impact environments.

Effects:

  • Reduces fall damage dramatically.

  • Gain advantage against forced movement.

  • Can briefly increase body weight to resist grapples or impacts.

Users often feel unnaturally heavy during emotional stress.

10. SoulThread Matrix

Legendary Spellware

An experimental full-body metaphysical stabilization network.

Effects:

  • Resistance to necrotic and psychic damage.

  • Soul cannot be easily displaced, possessed, or magically altered.

  • Once per long rest, negate a fatal effect that would kill you.

Rumors claim the implant slowly entangles users with something beyond the Weave itself.
