Noria – The Violet Wilds of the Vandu Empire

"Where the hunt is divine."

Noria is a terrestrial planet awash in shades of purple, from its dense forests to its vast oceans. Controlled by the Vandu Empire, the planet remains largely uninhabited, serving primarily as a ritual hunting ground for the Empire’s elite warriors. Its wild, untamed beauty and abundant dangerous wildlife make it a proving ground for Vandu strength, cunning, and dominance.

Geography and Society

The planet’s surface is dominated by dense purple forests, fields of violet-hued flora, and shimmering purple seas stretching beneath a soft lavender sky. The forests are alive with massive alien insects, predators, and carnivorous plants, creating a constant danger for travelers. Occasional ruins from ancient civilizations and Vandu hunting camps dot the terrain, blending seamlessly into the alien wilderness.

The Vandu Empire’s presence is minimal but highly ceremonial—hunting lodges, training grounds, and ritual arenas are carefully hidden among the wilds. Elite warriors journey here annually, hunting massive beasts or partaking in survival trials to demonstrate loyalty, skill, and favor with Horgar Icebane and the Archon Rastu.

Population

Noria is sparsely populated, with only temporary inhabitants: Vandu elite hunters, ritual masters, and a few specialized support crews. There are no permanent settlements, as the planet’s primary function is ceremonial and militaristic rather than residential.

Notable Locations

Nashad Jungle: A vast jungle of towering purple and black alien trees, with twisted branches forming a thick canopy that blocks most sunlight. The jungle teems with giant predatory insects, carnivorous plants, and aggressive fauna. It is a favored location for Vandu hunting trials, where warriors test their survival and combat prowess against the planet’s dangerous wildlife.

Vandu Hunting Camps: Scattered throughout the forests, these temporary camps are constructed from darksteel and natural materials. They provide lodging, medical facilities, and weapon storage for hunting parties. The camps are often adorned with trophies from past hunts, including the hides and bones of enormous Noria predators, symbolizing status and prowess.

Ancient Ruins: Faint traces of a long-lost civilization can be found amid the dense foliage—stone monoliths, crumbling temples, and carved statues hint at a society that once thrived here. The ruins are occasionally used for ritual ceremonies or training exercises, further emphasizing the planet’s mystique.

Culture and Purpose

Noria’s purpose is ritualistic and militaristic, serving as a sacred proving ground for the Vandu Empire’s warriors. The planet’s dangerous wildlife and untamed terrain cultivate strength, cunning, and resilience, with hunters expected to face both natural and ceremonial challenges. The purple forests and oceans symbolize the Empire’s dominion over life and death, beauty and brutality.

Though largely uninhabited, Noria embodies the essence of the Vandu Empire—a harsh, awe-inspiring world where only the strong survive, and where the hunt is both a sacred duty and a demonstration of loyalty to the Archon Rastu.
