The Yaki

The Yaki are an elite, invitation-only brotherhood of retired Stellar Knights, Ronin, and Psi-casters, renowned across the galaxy for their unmatched skill, unshakable discipline, and unwavering loyalty. Neither a guild nor a mercenary company in the traditional sense, the Yaki are a warrior order, bound by a sacred code of honor and forged in blood, battle, and camaraderie.

Operating in the shadows between the great powers, they serve as mercenaries, bounty hunters, and elite security operatives, taking only the most dangerous and high-paying contracts. Their name alone is enough to deter conflict — for where the Yaki tread, only victory or honorable death follows.

Leadership and Hierarchy

The Yaki are led by the Warlord, currently Yozuro Sajanomiko, a human Mage and descendant of the family that has ruled the Yaki for centuries. Each Warlord inherits not merely command, but the spiritual and cultural weight of the Yaki legacy — a lineage rooted in discipline, unity, and sacrifice.

The Yaki hierarchy is as structured as it is sacred:

  • Rookie – Newly initiated members still learning the Code.

  • Specialist – Proven fighters or casters assigned to small squads.

  • Team Leader – Commanders of small tactical cells, often veterans of dozens of missions.

  • Squad Leader – Oversees several teams; responsible for discipline and mission coordination.

  • Lieutenant – Acts as field commander for large operations or planetary assignments.

  • Captain – Leads entire divisions, often with their own ships and bases.

  • Master – Elder Yaki who oversee Bunker Bases, train new generations, and enforce the Code.

  • Grand Master – Supreme commanders of entire fleets or regional branches.

  • Warlord – The unquestioned leader of all Yaki, bearing the mantle of Sajanomiko and the legacy of the Order.

The Warlord’s succession is hereditary — passed to the eldest son of the Sajanomiko bloodline. Should the bloodline ever end, the Masters and Grand Masters convene in ritual combat to determine the next leader.

Honor and Code

The Yaki Code is the foundation of their brotherhood — a strict doctrine that emphasizes loyalty, professionalism, and unity above all else. Every Yaki renounces their former life and allegiances upon joining; past loyalties, and factions are left behind.

Once Yaki, always Yaki.

Their loyalty is first to the Order, and second to the client. Even when offered vast sums to betray a contract, the Yaki refuse without hesitation. To break faith is to be cast out — a punishment worse than death, as exile severs one from the only family that remains.

Internal conflict is nearly unheard of. Should disputes arise, they are settled through supervised duels of honor in controlled environments, never to the death. Killing a fellow Yaki is an unforgivable sin, punished by immediate execution.

“We are not bound by blood, but by blade and vow.” — Master Ronu Valis, Yaki philosopher

Organization and Bases

Yaki operations span the galaxy through a network of hidden Bunker Bases — fortified strongholds disguised beneath barren moons, asteroid belts, and forgotten worlds. Each base is both a sanctuary and a training ground, offering refuge, supplies, intelligence, and camaraderie.

Life in a Bunker Base is steeped in ritual and discipline. Members live communally, train daily, and partake in ceremonies honoring fallen comrades. These bases are self-sustaining, featuring forges, meditation chambers, sparring arenas, and secure databanks known as the Scrolls of Memory, recording every member’s service and deeds.

Masters command these bases, while Grand Masters lead fleets that coordinate inter-base operations. Despite their hidden nature, Yaki Bunkers are known for their architectural serenity — echoing ancient warrior monasteries, built of stone, steel, and silence.

Clients and Contracts

The Yaki are not available to just anyone. Only the elite, the powerful, and the worthy can afford their services — planetary rulers, wealthy merchant guilds, and powerful factions who seek an edge that ordinary mercenaries cannot provide.

Every contract is vetted by the Council of Masters, who determine whether it aligns with Yaki honor. They do not take contracts of revenge, genocide, or dishonor, regardless of price. Once accepted, failure is not an option — for Yaki either succeed, or die trying.

Payment is expected in full before deployment. For many, hiring the Yaki is a symbol of prestige — proof that one commands enough wealth or influence to enlist the galaxy’s most disciplined warriors.

The Warlord — Yozuro Sajanomiko

Yozuro Sajanomiko, the current Warlord, is both revered and feared. A human Mage of immense psionic power, he embodies the perfect balance of mastery and humility. Known for his quiet demeanor and calculating mind, Yozuro has personally led countless operations against pirate armadas, rogue cults, and even invading Warp Demons within Hyperspace.

His leadership is absolute, yet tempered by compassion. It is said that when he speaks, every Yaki listens, for his words carry the weight of centuries of discipline and sacrifice. Though his rule is uncontested, whispers persist that his son, Sayuro Sajanomiko, trains in secret — preparing for the day he inherits the mantle of Warlord.

The Creed of the Yaki

The Yaki’s creed, The Creed, governs every aspect of their existence. It teaches that strength is found not in domination, but in balance — the harmony between power, discipline, and loyalty.

Each Yaki, from Rookie to Warlord, lives by three tenets:

  1. Serve with Honor — Never betray the Order or the client.

  2. Kill with Purpose — Every strike must serve necessity, not ego.

  3. Die with Dignity — To fall in service is to achieve eternal peace.

Those who break these tenets are erased from the Scrolls of Memory — their names struck from history, their legacy forgotten.

The Arsenal of the Yaki

The Yaki’s military power lies not in sheer numbers, but in elite specialization and technology refined through centuries of mastery. As an organization composed largely of former Stellar Knights, Psi-casters, and Ronin, their equipment reflects both heritage and innovation — a perfect blend of arcane and engineered lethality.

The Yaki Warriors

  • Stellar Knights among the Yaki are peerless in plasma melee combat, wielding mastercrafted plasma blades and wearing customized Warplate armor, lighter and more efficient than standard Knight plate, but with equal protection and superior mobility.

  • Ronin bring traditional dueling and close-quarters skill, their plasma melee weapons and precision tactics forming the backbone of Yaki melee doctrine.

  • Psi-casters serve as arcane tacticians, specializing in Psionic warfare, battlefield manipulation, and Psi-imbued ranged weaponry. These casters can enhance ally reflexes, disable enemy tech, or create barriers of pure Psionica energy mid-combat.

Together, these three archetypes form the Triad of the Yaki War Tradition — Blade, Mind, and Spirit.

Yaki Starcraft

The Yaki operate a compact but exceptionally advanced fleet. Their ships are infused with Psi Shielding, energy barriers woven from both Psionica and traditional shield tech, capable of regenerating faster and resisting energy-based attacks better than standard models.
All Yaki vessels utilize Berium weaponry, powered by the rare green crystal Berium, mined exclusively from Ondar Prime, the barren uninhabited world and location of the Yaki Stronghold.

Kitsune-Class Interceptor

  • Type: High-speed interceptor

  • Crew: 1 (pilot)

  • Armament:

    • Twin Berium Gatling Cannons — rotary weapons firing hypercharged Berium rounds that glow vivid green when discharging.

    • Optional Psi-flux warheads — micro-missiles that temporarily destabilize shields and systems on impact.

  • Defenses:

    • Full Psi Shielding Matrix, capable of brief “phasing” through energy-based projectiles.

  • Performance:

    • Among the fastest interceptors in the galaxy, designed for precision dogfighting and elite hit-and-run strikes. And another of the rare fighters with a hyperdrive.

    • Psi-caster pilots can synchronize their minds with the ship through a Psi-link, enhancing reflexes and targeting.

The Kitsune is known for its agility and almost supernatural precision — some claim it moves before it’s fired upon.

Raijin-Class Multi-Variant Frigate

  • Type: Versatile support/command ship

  • Crew: 8–25 depending on configuration

  • Variants:

    • Transport Variant – troop carrier and rapid-deployment craft.

    • Medical Variant – equipped with stasis pods, trauma wards, and Psi-healing amplifiers.

    • Command Variant – enhanced communications, battlefield coordination, and cloaked relay nodes.

    • Anti-Vehicle Variant – twin Berium Cannons and ground-support missile systems.

    • Anti-Fighter Variant – quad Berium Gatling Cannons with advanced tracking AI.

    • Anti-Escort Variant – dual Berium Cannons and flak turrets designed to engage small corvettes.

  • Defenses: Heavy Psi Shielding capable of expanding to protect nearby allied craft for short durations.

The Raijin is the embodiment of Yaki adaptability — capable of serving as both sword and shield, healer and destroyer.

The Berium Edge

Berium is a crystalline mineral infused with a naturally resonant Psionic frequency. When refined and charged, it produces a luminous green energy capable of cutting through most shielding systems. Berium weapons are signature to the Yaki — efficient, beautiful, and deadly. Every round fired is a whisper of Psionica, guided by the warrior’s will.
