Crossing the volatile stretch of sea between the two islands is a significant undertaking that requires more than just willpower. To successfully navigate the four-hour distance between Fire Island and Bush Island, a player must be in possession of a specific item designed for water travel, such as a raft or a makeshift boat. Without a vessel to withstand the unpredictable currents, the ocean remains a barrier that limits survivors to the shores of their starting location.
Attempting to traverse without one of those items will surely lead to death. This is easily understood by just looking at the ocean or attempting to step in.
