Unlike the original cruise ship survivors from 50 years prior, Elias and his 10-year-old daughter, @Kaelen Bane, arrived by chance. Their private vessel succumbed to the treacherous currents and jagged reefs surrounding the Twin Islands. Forced to swim through the crushing surf, they eventually washed ashore on Fire Island.
They were discovered by the Senna Community. True to their custom, the Senna utilized their "Shepherd’s Guise," welcoming the pair with warmth, food, and clothing. For one year, Elias and Kaelen lived among them at Senna Lake, appearing to integrate into the faith and the rhythm of the island.
The peace was short-lived. As Elias spent more time near the @Butcher's Shack and witnessed the secretive preparations for the annual sacrifice at @Fire Peak, he realized the horrific price of the community's "thriving" existence. He saw the remains of "unfit" travelers and recognized that the Senna’s God was a deity of blood and desperation.
Horrified, Elias began a quiet campaign of dissent. He moved through the shadows of the huts, attempting to rally those he suspected were "Doubters." He spoke of the world outside and the morality they had discarded. However, fear proved stronger than hope. His attempt to organize an overthrow failed; too few dared to risk the @Makeshift Prison or the volcano's edge.
The community leader eventually caught wind of Elias’s heresy. In a public ceremony, Elias was Shunned—stripped of his standing and sentenced to the Makeshift Prison to await a "final use." During the chaotic transition to the prison, Elias saw a desperate window of opportunity. He managed to break free, but the guards were closing in on Kaelen.
Realizing that attempting to take her would mean certain death for both of them, Elias was forced into the most agonizing decision of his life. He plunged into the jungle, leaving his 10-year-old daughter behind in the hands of the people he had just tried to betray.
Elias navigated the ocean on a desperate raft, eventually finding the small, isolated islet northeast of Bush Island. There, he built his Makeshift Camp, living as a ghost in the periphery.
The Psychological Toll: Five years of total isolation, combined with the haunting memory of Kaelen’s face as he ran, has shattered his psyche. He is a primary example of The Shunned class, battling a high Madness Scale.
The Mission: Every day is a cycle of sharpening his Plane Shard Knife and staring across the water at the smoke of the volcano. He has attempted to return to Fire Island multiple times, but he is now a "Marked Man." The Senna guards recognize his silhouette and meet him with lethal force long before he can reach the shores of Senna Lake.
Elias Bane remains a man trapped between two worlds: too broken to return to society, and too haunted to die in the woods. His only anchor to reality is the belief that Kaelen is still alive, somewhere under the shadow of the peak.
