The @Terran economy combines centralized resource planning with powerful private corporations. Essential goods such as water, staple food, energy, and basic housing are heavily regulated. Consumer goods, entertainment, advanced medicine, cybernetics, transportation, and off-world commerce remain profitable private industries.
Major corporations possess immense influence within the UTA. They operate arcologies, construct spacecraft, manage data networks, maintain life-support infrastructure, and administer services that were once entirely controlled by governments.
The relationship between the Authority and these corporations is deliberately complicated. Corporations depend on state contracts, legal protection, and access to resources. The UTA depends on their expertise, industrial capacity, and technological innovation.
Publicly, corporations serve humanity under Terran law. Privately, they compete to influence regulations, secure monopolies, and place their representatives inside government institutions.
