@Free Belt Coalition (FBC) is the largest political movement seeking Belter independence and collective control over @The Belt’s resources.
The Coalition is not a unified state. It is an alliance of station councils, labor unions, ship crews, local militias, political organizations, and independent settlements. Its members agree that the Belt must no longer be governed primarily for the benefit of @Terra and @Mars.
Beyond that principle, they disagree on almost everything.
Moderates seek legal recognition, fair trade, labor protections, and political representation. Federalists want a permanent @Belter government capable of negotiating with the inner planets. Radicals demand the seizure of foreign assets and complete removal of Terran and Martian authority. Some factions use sabotage, piracy, and violence while claiming to act in the Coalition’s name.
Not all Belters support the FBC. Some fear it will provoke a war the Belt cannot survive. Others depend upon corporate employment, distrust centralized government, or value the independence of their own station above any shared Belter state.
The Coalition represents the Belt’s strongest voice, but never its only one.
