@Mars generally offers @The Belt better contracts and more local autonomy than the @United Terran Authority (UTA), earning the @Martian Congressional Republic (MCR) a more favorable reputation in some communities.
Martian equipment is highly valued, and cooperation with Mars has helped several settlements reduce their dependence on @Terra.
This relationship remains unequal. Mars needs @Belter resources for its military, industry, and terraforming programs. When strategic interests are threatened, the MCR can impose pressure as readily as the UTA.
Some Belters admire Mars for winning its independence from Terra. Others note that Martians now use their freedom to influence people who have not yet secured their own.
The MCR may support Belter autonomy when it weakens Terra, but it is unlikely to welcome a powerful and fully independent Belt.
