Relations between @Mars and @Terra are defined by history, rivalry, mutual dependence, and distrust.
The @Martian Congressional Republic (MCR) recognizes Terra as humanity’s ancestral home and one of the solar system’s central powers. It also regards the @United Terran Authority (UTA) as a bureaucratic empire that would reclaim control of Mars if given the opportunity.
Trade between the two worlds remains extensive. Terran corporations purchase Martian technology, while Mars imports cultural goods, biological resources, specialized products, and access to Terran markets.
At the same time, both governments conduct espionage, influence smaller factions, compete for resources, and maintain military plans for a possible conflict. Diplomatic crises are frequent, but neither side desires a war that could devastate the entire inner solar system.
Older Martians remember independence as a liberation from Terran control. Younger generations increasingly question whether permanent hostility should define their future.
