MCR 15: The MCR and Inanis

MCR and Inanis – Secret Research, Resonants and Hellas H-1

Officially, Inanis, Resonants or extraterrestrials do not exist.

Knowledge of Inanis is restricted to selected officials, military commanders, intelligence officers, and researchers.

The MCR considers Inanis phenomena both an existential danger and a possible source of scientific or strategic breakthroughs. Classified programs study recovered materials, anomalous structures, unusual incidents, and affected individuals in hopes of identifying reproducible properties or practical applications.

Martian researchers have investigated possible connections between observed Inanis effects and energy systems, communication, propulsion, neural activity, materials science, and military technology. These efforts remain experimental and poorly understood. Most attempts produce no useful result, cannot be reproduced, or generate effects whose cause cannot be determined.

A small number of experiments have produced unusual or potentially useful observations and were immediately placed under the highest security classifications. These results do not constitute reliable Inanis-derived technology. Unless separately established in specific lore, the MCR has not successfully converted Inanis phenomena into operational propulsion systems, weapons, communication systems, power sources, Resonant detectors, or other routine human technology.

Experimental instruments may monitor secondary effects or search for correlations observed during previous incidents, but they cannot reliably identify Inanis activity, determine its underlying mechanism, or identify a Resonant from sensor readings alone.

Known or suspected Resonants are assessed through incident records, exposure history, observed manifestations, surveillance, interviews, and other conventional investigation. Those considered confirmed may be evaluated according to their stability, abilities, and willingness to cooperate. Some serve within supervised research or military programs. Others are detained in concealed facilities. A small number may live freely without the MCR realizing what they have become.

The discovery of Inanis material at Hellas Anomaly Site H-1 has intensified these efforts. Officially, the site is an industrial accident caused by experimental terraforming equipment. Even most personnel stationed nearby are unaware of its true purpose.

The MCR fears that the UTA may possess more advanced knowledge or may achieve a breakthrough first. This fear encourages greater secrecy, riskier experiments, and a growing willingness to treat Resonants as strategic resources rather than citizens.

Despite its technological sophistication, the MCR does not possess a unified scientific theory of Inanis or Resonant phenomena. Its advantage lies in disciplined research, extensive classified data, and a willingness to experiment, not in understanding the true nature of what it is studying.
