@The Silence is the name given to an unknown extraterrestrial presence whose structures, materials, and anomalies have begun appearing throughout the outer regions of the solar system.
The term does not necessarily describe a species. No living member of the Silence has ever been conclusively observed, no recognizable language has been translated, and no direct communication has received a verifiable response. Humanity knows the Silence only through what it has left behind and through the changes caused by contact with it.
Its relics violate accepted principles of physics. Some remain dormant for years before activating without an identifiable trigger. Others distort electromagnetic signals, interfere with advanced machinery, alter local gravitational forces, or produce geometries that cannot be consistently measured. The closer these phenomena are studied, the less reliable conventional instruments become.
Whether these effects are deliberate remains unknown.
