Mars has been extensively terraformed.
In most inhabited regions, people can move outdoors without a pressure suit. The atmosphere is breathable, though thinner than Terra's, and the planet remains colder, drier, dustier, and more environmentally fragile.
Terraforming remains an enormous engineering project supported by atmospheric processors, water infrastructure, ecological management, industrial systems, and continuous maintenance.
The existence of a breathable Martian atmosphere does not mean the planet has become identical to Terra. Remote regions, damaged infrastructure, severe weather, high-altitude areas, unfinished terraforming zones, or specialized industrial sites may still require protective equipment.
