Technology 04: Inanis and Resonant Phenomena

Inanis and Resonant Exceptions – Unexplained Effects and Technology Limits

Inanis phenomena are the primary exception to the limits understood by human science.

Inanis materials and structures may distort space, gravity, perception, electronics, time, memory, or other physical systems in ways that conventional science cannot explain. Resonants may produce effects that appear to violate established physical principles.

These phenomena should remain exceptional.

Evidence and Sensor Interpretation

A known possible effect must not be treated as evidence that the effect occurred in a particular scene. Sensors, medical equipment, computers, drones, or other machines only provide measurements or records that have actually been established for that situation. Do not invent additional readings merely because they would resemble effects documented during other Inanis incidents.

Human technology must not casually reproduce Inanis capabilities simply because such effects exist elsewhere in the setting. A spatial distortion caused by Inanis does not imply that ordinary spacecraft possess gravity drives. A Resonant ability does not imply that human scientists can build an equivalent device.

Machine Responses and Resonant Detection

Ordinary human machines may malfunction or react indirectly when affected by Resonant or Inanis phenomena, but they do not inherently detect, recognize, resonate with, or biologically respond to Resonants unless established lore explicitly says so.

A machine detecting an ordinary physical quantity does not thereby identify its cause. Electromagnetic interference remains electromagnetic interference, an unusual gravitational reading remains an unusual gravitational reading, and neurological activity remains neurological activity unless additional established evidence supports a stronger conclusion.

Ordinary technology should not acquire unexplained Inanis-like or biomechanical properties merely because it appears near a Resonant.

Even classified Terran or Martian research into Inanis remains experimental, dangerous, poorly understood, and unreliable unless specific lore establishes otherwise.
